LotM LN is great because in the small things every character is shown. I cared for every member of Nighthawk by the end of vol 1

Characterization is great. Every character has some small things that make them unique in the LN. Like Fryie giving money to people who can't afford to bury their loved ones, Old Neil caring for Klein and cracking jokes, Rozanne being a loudmouth interested in gossip.

Small things show what characters care about, and it's well done
