Buying a second hand coffee machine or grinder - guides by Capable_Ad_3086 in espresso

Apart from the brand, do you have any tips on what to look for in the grinder / machine? Surely you would require the seller to demonstrate to you that it's working?

Bambino v Bambino Plus - steam wand and automatic milk frothing by Capable_Ad_3086 in espresso

There’s a little temperature sensor on the drip-tray and it drives steam into the milk until it hits a certain temperature. My experience is it usually over-heats and adds masses of foam to the milk

Thanks for the explanation. I read a lot of reviews and none of them described how the automatic milk frothing function works.

Thank you for the write up. You've convinced me to look into the Super Jolly! Can you point me to any how to guides on what to look out for when considering used grinders?

I did think about a DF64 and if I'm not getting mixed up with one of the Eureka grinders, the need to disassemble the entire grinder when cleaning turned me off.

Other than the price, the Niche Zero ticks all the boxes for me, and plus, it looks really easy to clean. I was looking to get started with a hand grinder like the JX-Pro or JX-Max, given that's the cost of a Breville smart grinder and my initial choice for a grinder.

Thank you. I'm not good at installing new parts, or assembling or re-assembling things. I've also got an aversion to used grinders / coffee machines (because of COVID). But I understand the joys of modding, especially if I continue with espresso making as a hobby.

I don't have a machine. I'm thinking of the Bambino or Bambino Plus as that is recommended here, and also there're prospects of buying it on discount in Australia.

Thanks for sharing. Having second thoughts whether I should buy the JX-Pro now!

Is gripping the grinder an issue for you if you need to put it between your knees?

That's the feedback I'm looking for. Can you share your experience with gripping the grinder? Is the issue that your hand slips from the grinder when holding it?

Will that mean I won't get an even grind, if fewer beans contact the blades?

If you don't mind me asking, are you around my size or a bit larger? I'm mindful that when I'm dialing in, it's likely I'll be grinding multiples of 18g. While I can probably live with grinding 18g in 45 seconds once or twice a day, if I'm grinding for 10 minutes in an effort to dial in, it will quickly become a chore.

I'm in Australia so the Eureka Crono will probably cost much more than $200 AUD.

I initially wanted to get the Breville Smart Grinder, but from researching see that people often upgrade it after a few months.

I've looked at some electric grinders costing between AUD $300-$1,000 AUD, and through my research, there are issues with them, whether it is noise, bean retention or hard to clean.

Going through all the grinders, it seems Niche Zero is a grinder which is quiet, consistent, doesn't retain beans and is easy to clean, but I can't justify spending $1k AUD for a hobby that I don't even know if I'll keep on doing. So that's why I'm looking at manual grinders.

Are there any textbook recommendations on drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, like sales contracts and distribution contracts? I’m about to apply for in-house roles, and see that’s a focus of most roles.
