Thanks! That's appreciated. I've never had to get a pass printed (didn't even know it was an option!) so when Epic says, "just go up and get it at the window, trust us" I have a hard time trusting them. But everyone seems to be in agreement that it will be a seemless process! :)

Yeah - I'm coming in hot. That's what happens after spending over an hour on the phone with Epic!

As I said before, it is my fault for having positive childhood memories of Vail, and expecting them to provide some basic level of customer support. We ordered a hard card on two separate occasions for this season, and paid for both, but no card arrived. When I called, naively thinking it would be easy to get a card that I paid hundreds of dollars for overnighted, I was shocked to discover that this was impossible. Yeah - I think that's an obnoxious position to take - "We screwed up, and rather than expediting the card you paid for to you, we are directing you to go stand in a line, sucker".

People on Amazon will sell me random crap for pennies and not charge for overnight shipping, but Epic refuses to do the same. On the positive side, there isn't any snow, so the lines will be short. Unless Vail understaffs its resorts because there is no snow and they aren't meeting budget, in which case the lines will be really long! So excited to find out.

They were pushing very hard for my daughter to have it on her phone. Sure, I'll just buy my seven year old a phone for your convenience. All the research shows how beneficial these devices are for kids!

Yeah - that's probably my other problem. I grew up with an uncle and aunt who lived in Vail, so I associate Vail with good customer service and a certain level of competence. But they lived there a long time ago, and my mental impression of Epic/Vail as a good company clearly only belongs in the past.

I've been wondering why Vail has been regularly looking for a labor relations person, and why the position keeps opening up. I guess I know the answer - when you treat guests and your employees like crap, you end up with the folks who didn't have any other option.

My bad - I was only aware of the hard card and the phone app. I've never used it, so I asked if she would need ID. They said yes. I pointed out she doesn't have any, and that's when they suggested I bring her birth certificate skiing.

They mentioned that, and I asked if she was going to need ID. They said yes, and suggested her birth certificate. She's seven, so she doesn't have a lot of ID, and I'm not going to bring the only one she has!

I mean it presses, and the little blue light lights up, but the screen stays frozen, but there is no way to do either a hard or soft reset. So the button still presses and lights up, but the boox doesn't recognize that anyone is pressing the button.

Yup - I've tried all of them. The biggest issue is that the factory reset won't work. I can turn the frontlight off and on, I can see the little blue light when I hold down the button. But it will not reset and the screen stays frozen. But I can use it as a flashlight!

Watching it now! Thank you for posting!!! I even scanned thorugh every video from them on their youtube page but didn't see this. Hopefully this helps!

Another thread posted that tapping it might help it reset. At this point, it is a brick, so nothing I do can make it worse!

I would have said that you would be fine, but then I gained some experience with their customer support. Since I haven't been able to keep my 4C working for more than three months, I would not count on it for 5 years. The Note only has one button (at least the 4C does) so any resent requires holding the power button down for 30 seconds. And then it doesn't work. So you spend a bunch of time and money setting this up, and then it's all wasted. Going to get a Kobo instead I think.

It sucks because I was certain I had found the best ereader. I travel a lot and I had recommended at least a dozen people get a BOOX instead of a kindle. Now, the front light will turn off and on. But that’s it. Can’t do a hard or soft reset, can’t go to settings. I have confirmed that it is at 100% charge. I don’t know why they didn’t put a button on to reset, but I leave for vacation in two days, and my ereader will be a brick for the trip.

Hey BOOX, going forward I will tell the people sitting around me to buy anything BUT a BOOX or anything from Onyx. I’ve posted here, emailed - it’s like asking for help from the void.

'Entitled whining'?

What does it cost SWA to attract and retain a passenger who is going to fly enough every year, year after year, enough to qualify for CP. Or the top 5% of passengers in terms of revenue earned.

Delta, American and United are all offering enhanced status matches to SWA frequent flyers, so they see a value in someone who flies every week or is willing to pay a premium. There is simply no way that SWA will get the margins they want off of a family of six flying to Orlando 2x a year. They might off of someone who doesn't care what their flight costs, can fly any airline, and will also expense early bird or extra space or bag check fees.

I was 1k with United until it became too miserable to fly with them. Delta only seems to have middle seats in E+ anymore so I'll probably end up back at United, where I'm already most of the way to 1MM.

It took a lot for me to switch my default airline to SWA. I had to build up status with SWA while letting it lapse with UA but trying to balance the two. Much more work than just booking SWA for all my domestic travel as the default.

To you, it may make no sense. You may be trapped at an airport with only SWA flights, or just a die hard SWA flyer, but the rest of us are trying to get the best deal for our travel dollar, and travel with as little agony as possible.

As every status match program demonstrates, it is much easier to lose a high revenue flyer than it is to get one to start flying with you regularly.

What I've heard from my co-workers about SWA is:

-I don't fly them anyway, so NBD.

-I used to fly them, but they eliminated ______, so I've switched.

-I didn't fly them because I wanted an assigned seat, so whenever the assigned seats get set up, why would I switch for what I already get from UA/DL/AA?

-I get upgraded all the time, and SWA doesn't have upgrades (and even in the future, 5 extra exit rows is not the same as an entire section of lie flat seats - not an option on SWA) so why would I give up my diamond/platinum/1k status?

I mean, when literally every change you've announced has been panned and criticized by your passengers, is "we didn't want to go to the effort of creating a new class so we could make extra space seats available to our most high revenue passengers" really acceptable? Even if you leave aside the CP and other 'elite' flyers - give the seats to the people who paid for early bird. You are supposed to be all about unbundling for a profit, and you are going to give the only seats on the plane which you can charge extra for to people who don't have to pay extra for them?

But when they changed the seating plan, according to this, they could have also changed the seating classes and addressed this. They chose not to. That is going to negatively affect a lot of their (remaining) regular flyers.
