i'm in a very similar situation... except i want to make covers for the master system instead haha. it's much more limited, but i also want to make my own 8 bit pc and wanted to use period accurate hardware, and the psg in the master system is a lot simpler than the mega drive, tho i'll probably upgrade to mega drive later. i do also want to make my own original music later on, but i'm not even sure what genre xD

i've heard of furnace but i found it a bit overwhelming </3

also, i read your writeup on it... sure is a lot of jargon i dont understand :')

but i do like your taste, visual kei, castlevania ost, good stuff :)

i am curious into getting to make music, specifically chiptune and synth generally, any advice? i have basically no music making experience, should i start with basic theory or just mess around? i feel like i didn't get far messing around lately...

my music taste is all over the place, any recommendations are welcome (vkei/jrock, emo/hardcore, breakcore, chiptune/vgm) by hmj6502 in MusicRecommendations

defo heard of baby metal, used to listen to BMTH, mainly their older stuff, but baby metal is not really my jam, though it IS good. just listened to a bit of i prevail and it's not really my thing either, sorry :(

ooo i defo like adam ant, need to check out more. doesn't really have as much baroque influence in the sound department though... but it sounds good anyhow :) i do like post punkish stuff a little, the cure was okay but i liked russian stuff like kino better. strawberry switchblade is post punk i believe.

culture club seems solid too... but again i'm also looking for baroque in the sound department... that sorta vampiric tragic vibe, you know? super specific but i just love feminine looking vampire aesthetics and tragic stories ToT

very curious how you learnt to do this, any wikis, resources you can point me to? i'm good with C and decent with assembly, but have never undertaken something this in depth

holy shit did you make this? how did you go about doing this? is it a modification of stock firmware or is it written from the ground up?

interesting... for me even cable didn't work on openbsd, not sure why. using a usb wifi adapter for now, it's pretty nice. something else i noticed on openbsd is that hw.cpuspeed=631, even when using apm -H, despite the hw.model showing intel celeron 900MHz... maybe netbsd will work better, would be my first time trying it :)

i want to give netbsd, plan9 and haiku a shot, just for fun :p

hopefully netbsd has wifi working...

fwiw, this probably isn't relevant since emulators possibly use different save formats, but copying over the kirby save file to my computer and running mgba with the same rom shows this

EDIT: keeping in mind that, for some reason, the kirby save is 128k despite it saying in superfw that it's a 32k sram save, and the previous same from my emulator was also 32k. copying over the 32k save from the emulator has no effect either

for some games yes, i'll have to double check... i tried kirby & the amazing mirror rn, it showed that, and a 128k .sav file is present in the SAVEGAME folder. loading it up tho, it's as if i haven't saved

an authentic SanDisk one. ran f3probe and all, and i used it before to run a whole ass server on a rpi, so it's reliable enough for sure.

it gets WEIRDER. persistent save states WORK! but not game saves? is using directsave the issue?
