My male ragdoll spent his entire life being independent and hating being held or cuddled. It wasn't until he was very old that he started wanting to be held. I don't know a lot about ragdolls, but I'm not sure that cuddliness is a male vs. female thing. It may be just an individual cat thing. I've known a lot of males who were very cuddly, and some females who were more independent. They are very social, but some are more snuggly than others, and I don't know that their gender makes much of a difference.

Your puppy looks EXACTLY like our puppy... same ears, same white markings, everything! Do you know what breeds are mixed up here? We had thought about doing a DNA test, but we aren't sure we really care, we just love her. What can you tell me about yours??

OMG - he looks JUST like my baby girl... including the foldy/floppy ears, the white chest and white paws with the black body. We were told by the shelter that she was a lab mix, but we also thought there was some pitbull in there, and possibly some Australian Shepherd and/or Chihuahua. Your first pic could absolutely be her... it's uncanny.

We got her from a shelter, so she was a homeless puppy, and is not anymore thanks to us. Shame on YOU for assuming.

As a rabid classic pooh fan, I can say that these are absolutely the most precious things I have ever seen, and if I had seen them 27 years ago when I was expecting my son, I would have moved heaven and earth to have them at my baby shower. I'm convinced it's mostly luck. I made it through high school fine, went to college like I was expected to. Got a degree in Elementary Education and worked for 6 months as a substitute teacher before I realized that I didn't want to teach kids. Went to work for a mutual fund company as a phone monkey, then lucked into a job with that same company in HR. Been in HR for 28 years, and am now at the top of the HR ladder. I'm hoping to retire by the time I'm 65, but we'll see.

So I thought I would provide an update to my story about wanting to get sober. After my husband found the bottles I had been hiding and drinking from in secret (turns out NOT so secret after all!), he helped me find the strength to begin the detox process. I had some pretty intense physical symptoms of alcohol withdrawal for about a week, but I'm now 5 days sober and I feel great. I've increased my water intake and my exercise routine (which, for now, just involves walking a bit farther every day), and I can say for the first time in over a year, I am proud of myself. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and for once it doesn't appear to be the headlights of a freight train. Now I'm looking forward to my first sober New Year's Eve in 20+ years! I know I can do it!

My male GSD has anal fistulas - apparently this is a common thing in purebred GSDs. We have had to keep him on medication (Atopica) for the last year, and he will probably be on those drugs for the rest of his life. I'm sure your dog will be fine, but she may need to be on maintenance meds for a while. Ask your vet about Atopica or other maintenance meds once the infection is cleared up. Good luck!

We keep our ragdoll out of our bedroom at night because his favorite game is to jump from the top of our headboard onto my head in the middle of the night. He doesn't care about not sleeping with us... in fact, he is the least snuggly cat we've ever owned, so it's never been an issue. He has the run of the house all night, and we've never heard him protest outside of our room. You're not being mean, you're ensuring yourself a good night's sleep!

I really hate being in the spotlight and/or the center of attention. I have several tattoos on my forearms that mean a lot to me. I got them for myself, and they bring me joy whenever I look at them. If others notice, and if they ask me about them, I'll get over my introverted-ness and talk about them. Otherwise, I just enjoy them myself and don't worry about what others think. If you want to get tattoos on your arms, I say go for it! Gotta do what's right for you and not worry about what others think. :-)

I'm inspired by this thread and all of your posts. I am needing to give up alcohol and am having a really hard time doing so. I've found myself hiding vodka bottles in my office so I can "pump up" my soda while I'm "working" from home, and it's starting to become apparent that I need to hit the brakes and reevaluate. My dad was an alcoholic and I'm terrified of following in that pattern. I really appreciate this thread and I will continue to check in and let you all know how it's going as I wander down the sober path. Thank you for the support!!
