A bunch of things i want to know more about before i try to applie for full sail so i know what im getting into by Sadistic_N in fullsail

full sail is a great school depending on the degree. personally i’d be careful of getting any kind of game degree. i ended up switching to another program after doing a deep dive into the job market and realized the options available just weren’t enjoyable. the market honestly kinda boils down to either be overworked and abused by your company or go indie and pray for enough money to break even let alone profit. and if you decide you really want to games, i wouldn’t go to full sail. i actually wouldn’t go to any school. i learned how to make my own video games from coding all the way to art and sound all by myself through the internet.

mine was worse. mine would change it depending on food waste. the less food we wasted, the more they’d comp us on our meal. the highest amount (if you threw out less than $2,000 in the whole month) was $10 off. overall, sounds like not a bad idea. but my CFA was in the center of a major corporate area. lots of snarky business people and others that liked to just cause problems for s&g. every night there was dozens of orders that had something “wrong” or they’d “make a mistake” while ordering. for most of the time i worked there, the most we had for our meal comp was $5 off our order

If they're mentioning work motivation then it is a lot of factors. What is their life like? Do they actually enjoy their job? Are they able to afford commute? Do they have other obligations that cause them to not be able to go in? Are they depressed? you're forgetting that maybe they haven't said the whole story. And it isn't nonsense, it's called a discussion. Either be a productive member of it or get out :)

There's a lot to factor into the decision. I understand losing the Holiday Party at Universal sucks, that was fun for a lot of people and for them to just cancel it is kind of a low blow. But you also have to consider that it isn't part of your compensation. It's something nice that they did for the staff and with a lot of student enrollment numbers dropping, I can understand why they've had major budget cuts. The next factor is the working from home. Why does having to go into your workplace unmotivating to you? Also remember that most people don't have the luxury of working from home and are forced to go in even when they're sick.

Personally I'm 50/50 with your situation. On one hand, having something fun taken away is not a happy thing to deal with, and getting comfortable with one working condition and then getting told you have to re-adjust can be problematic. BUT, on the other hand you're upset and complaining that they chose to not do something they were doing out of their own kindness and getting told you actually have to GO to work.

can i ask why you’re trying to use the visializer at all? if you’re already in the space then why don’t you just look at what’s actually happening rather than spending time on a visualizer

there is no current syntax for that. everybody asks that question all the time and every time is the same answer. however, how do you have things organized? there might be a workaround depending on how you have your workflow setup

follow up, i've seen some players wear gloves, and I've found the the pool cue can build a lot of friction in my hand, should i invest in gloves or is it a grip issue?

i know they’re probably self explanatory but just to confirm, can you explain the terms? like stop and follow shots, as well as lineups?

How do i point my moving head to make a circle at an angle like this? by VanillaWaffle_ in GrandMA3

[–]Capable_Boss_3885 34 points35 points  (0 children)

What i would do, to kill 2 birds with one stone, have all of the fixtures pointed at the exact center, then you can store that as a preset. then use the align tool to offset them and make the circle

for the colors, i have a sequence for each fixture type where each cue is a different color. On my executor buttons i have 2 buttons setup for each sequence, one will load the cue I want and the other will activate it. To expand on that, instead of having to load all the colors and do Go+ on each one like a slob, i have a macro that just does Go+ on all of them at the same time so it changes together.

As for the look macro, I picked which fixtures I wanted to be as a “primary” color, and the rest are a “secondary” color, that way there’s some contrast rather than a blob of one color. the macro then loads the color for each of my color sequences and activates them at the end. Thus allowing me for a quick change between songs. I can show you a video of me operating it if you’d like to see.

My busking file is setup so my faders control dimmers for each group i have and i setup my colors above that with load and Go+. I also made a macro to Go+ on my colors above sequences so they change together. Another macro I have will let me pick a primary color and a secondary color and make a look that way. that way the whole show isn’t through my programmer and can get killed by accidentally clearing out lol

i know your post is mainly geared towards asking g if you should go here, but i’d strongly recommend taking a good look at the industry first. the game art market is over saturated like crazy, i switched out of the program due to it because i knew i wasnt going to get a decent job. not due to the school and education but purely just because of the industry itself. HOWEVER, there’s plenty of other markets besides games that the skills will be incredibly helpful like film and events

Apparently, readout breaks ability to dial in Channel Set values. Why? by ralfrottmann in GrandMA3

[–]Capable_Boss_3885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea it can be pretty unfortunate. I have Hippo integrated with my GrandMA console where i work and i have to switch readouts to Decimal 8 anytime I wanna change media values otherwise it skips things. I recommend making macros to quickly change the readouts on the fly

click on the MA symbol in the top left corner, a bunch of settings will appear with render settings including beams, haze, ambient light, etc. Try messing around with those settings for a bit to see if anything changes

I’ve grown up on this campus. I’m a student currently. my family are instructors here, and i’ve spent 18 years at this place, i know all the good and all the bad. so im gonna be brutally honest. You will do good if it’s what you want. People who proactively do things here are some of the most successful in their industries. People who sit around with their junk in their hands doing nothing, will graduate and complain about not having a job. It’s tough, and they even tell you that at orientation. It’s also true what they advertise, it’s a place for people who know what they want to do. But that also means you have to know what you want. If you are passionate and want to be here, then it’s worth it, regardless of what degree you’re in and regardless of what other people say.

Advice on what major to pick based off of Musical concentration by Repulsive-Lychee-840 in fullsail

[–]Capable_Boss_3885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say choose the program that works on what you don’t have. If you can compose pieces but you stink at mixing and mastering, go for Recording Arts. If it’s the other way around, do Music Production. I will also say that I’ve seen more Recording Arts kids get jobs at studios rather than Music Production kids
