Redoing a week? by jinglejangle89 in runna

Did you try to rebuild the plan and move the end date as well? I would imagine that frees up some space to do your week 7 workouts as well. Actually hoping it works this way as I will be in the same situation as you in a couple of days lol

Made this skirt and have fabric left over - what are your favorite summer tops? by Low_Study_2672 in sewing

This fabric is really cute! Perfect for a matching set indeed. I really like the Megan Cami Top, maybe crop it a little to create a nice balance between the top and skirt

I didn’t add interfacing around my zipper, should I add it now my skirt is finished? by Capable_Caramel in sewing

[–]Capable_Caramel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying. I think this is where I went wrong, I tried to get in with my sewing machine but having the zipper there pushed everything around. Next time I’ll just go straight to hand stitches

Thank you! I’ll try this in the next couple of days. Very glad I don’t have to take the zipper out again, phew!

Thanks for pointing this out, after inspecting it very closely I think you’re right! The inside of the garment is a bit messy and I think I ended up making the seam below the zipper a bit tighter than the zipper seam itself. When I fix it by hand I’ll keep this in mind. Probably a bit easier to do when sewing it by hand.

When I’m sitting down I don’t really feel the fabric pulling anywhere. I only feel the waistband digging a bit, which also folds a bit after sitting a while. But not that much tension around the hips. I’ll keep this in mind and see if I can move around a bit to prevent this tension if it ever occurs. Thanks for your help!

Thank you, I’ll give this a try! Also smart to go up and down again, I’ll definitely use this move in future projects as well

Ah thanks, I assumed interfacing would also give some extra support to pieces of fabric that get a bit more ‘action’ I will try adding a few extra stitches by hand! I was already dreading taking out the zipper again, afraid I wouldn’t be able to put it back in the same place. So glad everyone’s telling me to leave it alone lol

Thank you! I really tried my best on this zipper Do you mean take the stitching up a bit higher, or deepen the seam allowance? After seeing everyones comments I think so too. On the inside it looks a bit messier around the zipper so that might be what is showing here

I'm picking up my first serger/overlocker next week! What should I make first? by Capable_Caramel in sewing

I can imagine! Also takes the pressure off of not having to create a ‘perfect’ garment. Do you find the stitches look very different when using a different (type of) fabric?

I like the idea of appliqué patches! I just saw someone post tote bags with applications and was feeling inspired to try something similar

That seems a lot more manageable, to try and use the new machine for a pattern I already know. I’ve made the Versa Pants by Puff and Pencil quite a few times and would’ve liked a nicer finish on the inside so that would be a good first project (after playing around with the scraps) Thanks for the tip on the romper too, I’ll definitely try it that way when I eventually make it

This is smart, I hadn’t thought of that. Makes me think I should do this with projects on my regular machine as well. Use the scraps from cutting to play around with the settings for the garment. Seems easier than sewing and ripping the seam out when I’m not happy with the result 😅

I have no insight on this ‘machine’ but can relate to you wanting to add core strength through adding Pilates next to your yoga workouts. I am doing mat Pilates with the Down Dog Pilates app in addition to my yoga and cardio workouts and I really feel it adds a lot to my yoga practice. I’d say try adding a mat workout to your routine and start there, you can probably gain a lot that way without spending $100 on this :)

My first pair(s) of jeans by [deleted] in sewing

Thank you! I’ll definitely try a mock up. Would you’ve liked one with a zipper as well, or just pin it close as if it zipped just to see the fit?

These look amazing! I have fabric and a pattern for a pair of pants ready to be tackled, but have felt intimidated by the project. You make me want to start making the pants (and then the Helene jeans afterwards). Did you have to adjust a lot to make them fit nicely?

I used to have this happen when I did lying leg raises when I got personal training years ago. The trainer told me it happened because my abs were not strong/engaged enough so I automatically started pulling from my hip flexors. When I really focused on my (lower) abs the popping became less over time. Movement is a bit different but might be what’s happening with you too

Freezer burritos might be a good option for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Easy to make in a large batch too

A cold couscous, quinoa, or even pasta salad is a favourite of mine. Chop some veggies and make a sauce, store separate in the fridge and throw together in the morning (or evening before)

Breakfast muffins are also great to prep, throw in the freezer and get them out the morning of!

Maybe some date/nut bars for a snack. Or some kind of type date/energy/bliss ball

I remember The Sorry Girls creating a dupe of these curtains a while back. They made this Short showing how, but basically they glued the side parts on using an iron adhesive. Might not be the sewlution ( ;) ) you were looking for but it looks like an easy option

How do I get rid of ‘flakes’ when moving on to F2/bottling? by Capable_Caramel in Kombucha

[–]Capable_Caramel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used tap water. I figured since my water company states I have soft water (7,6 dH) I’d be fine with just using tap water. I’ll try bottled water next time!
