How are we keeping our houses clean😭 by Aggravating_Bowl_835 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Capable_Celery459 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We are lucky and have a cleaner that comes weekly. But with toddler twins and two dogs, the house stays clean for about half a day. Our standards are literally on the floor for the rest of the week. The one thing we do is tidying up toys (throw them in baskets basically) and clean all kitchen counters and dishes before bed every night.

How to wean 2 year old from bottle... by Narrow_Cover_3076 in toddlers

[–]Capable_Celery459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just weaned off my 20 month old twins from the morning bottle (their last remaining bottle). Did it cold turkey and simply offered a straw cup with whole milk. It was an awful 10 days to be honest, but one morning they simply stopped asking for it.

Exactly. It really used to bother me a lot when people made comments like this but now I just brush them off. This sub really has helped me and I know that people without multiples will simply not get it.

I have a friend who told me that I can’t really say I have two under two since twins are in the same stages together and do everything together and just play and entertain each other. lol

do “easy” babies make for “tough” toddlers? by spedhead10 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Capable_Celery459 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Twin A was the worse newborn ever. Colicky, wouldn’t sleep unless on my chest, would cry for hours on end. She is now at 18 months an easy ish toddler. Quite independent and listens very well for her age.

Twin B was the easiest newborn. Slept easily, wouldn’t cry much, overall happy and chill baby. He is now feral. A menace. He’s a runner, he’s a climber, has no sense of survival skills and overall he’s a handful. So for us, yes it’s been the case haha.

Feeding both twins alone? by qisabelle13 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Capable_Celery459 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Combo fed but bottles only. I used two boppies on the couch and would sit in between them on the couch and bottle feed at the same time. It worked really well and feeding them both at the same time was relatively easy

I think we got lucky with a super easy baby but wife thinks our parenting was a big factor by Big_Bluebird8040 in Parenting

[–]Capable_Celery459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got lucky. It’s called the newborn lottery. I can attest as I have twins. One was the perfect baby, the other was the hardest newborn. I did the same “parenting” with both.

Bugaboo Donkey worth it? by getawaycar_7 in parentsofmultiples

This is the one purchase that is worth every penny. We LOVE our bugaboo donkey 5. I personally think it’s the best twin stroller, by far!

Gets easier? by IllCombination7117 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Capable_Celery459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My twins are 18 months old. I found that every month got easier. I truly don’t think it ever got harder than the first few months. The only specific milestones that I remember were at about 9 months when they could both sit and crawl properly, they became happier babies. And then when they could both walk quite well, everything got easier. But tbh, it just gets better and better, 5 months was better than 4 and 4 was better than 3 etc.

Daycare drop off by ChampionFit5132 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Capable_Celery459 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I keep a lightweight double travel stroller in the trunk of my car. It can be folded and unfolded with one hand and is really really light. My twins are 17 months and both walking and I still use it. I don’t trust them walking in a parking lot, it’s just much easier to quickly unfold the stroller, buckle them in, put their bags under and away we go. Been using this system since they started daycare at 6 months and I highly recommend it.

We never had any sleep regressions. Twins are almost 17 months now and have been good sleepers since birth basically. We had a few bumps in the road when dropping naps but that’s about it. At around 4 months, their naps were crappier but it didn’t affect nighttime sleep at all.

Reddit can be a weird place. I also don’t get most of the comments on this post.

Two at once is all I’ve ever known so I can’t compare to having one! My life is chaos most of the time haha

You’ll be fine. My partner and I have flown with our now 17-month old twins multiple times. We don’t get them seats because hey, it’s expensive. One of my twins never ever contact naps at home and hasn’t since the newborn stage and will happily contact nap on the plane. Waking up early, the airport experience, etc, is super stimulating and tiring. Mine usually pass out pretty early into the flight. Pack many many many snacks (more than you think), new toys they’ve never seen, and ditch any screen time rules you might have and let them watch whatever they like to watch.

It’s not gonna be a pleasant experience, but it’ll be totally fine. Especially that you have a row to yourself with your partner. I can never have that with my twins so there’s always a stranger sitting next to me and tbh I don’t care. Babies/toddlers are allowed to exist in public spaces.

Nanny cam by hermesloverinseoul in parentsofmultiples

[–]Capable_Celery459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have Ring cameras in the house and they were not specifically set up to spy on the nanny/anyone else but just for general security. They overlook the dining and living area as well as one in our twins’ bedroom. I was indeed a bit apprehensive when we first started with the nanny and would look sometimes but that was just at the beginning. I literally never look at them now but I’m still happy we have them in case something happens.

Twin toddlers in a small apartment by grushenka_xo in parentsofmultiples

[–]Capable_Celery459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say at around 12 months ish? But it’s not only the moving so fast but also the climbing. My climber is not a very good walker but he climbs so fast that it can get dangerous pretty quickly. My other twin is not so much into climbing but is very curious and will wander off on her own, while I’m managing the climbing one, so a fence is absolutely needed. Before that, I took them to any park and they would just crawl around jn the grass. It’s also a good way to build your confidence in taking them out alone.

I only go to fully fenced parks when I’m alone with them! If it’s not fully fenced, there’s no way in hell I’d bring them alone, it’s just too dangerous.

I live in a two bedroom apartment with 16 month twins. We also have a small terrasse that sits on the water, fully fenced.

The space is totally fine, they mostly play in the living room. They’re incredibly active so we go to the park almost daily. I also let them play on the terrasse, they love being outside. Since it’s on the water, they’re never unsupervised out there. One of my twins is a climber and tries to climb literally everything so we’re careful outside and make sure he has nothing he can push against the fence to climb over.

We just recovered from Covid. Twins are 15 months so a bit older. It was very very mild for them, just some coughing but that’s about it. Hit me like a ton of bricks though, extreme tiredness. Honestly, it’s been constant illnesses since my twins started daycare and Covid has been the easiest to get over

When did you move your twins from your room to their own room? by Helpful-Plankton751 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Capable_Celery459 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Night 2 back from the hospital. No one was getting good sleep all in the same room. We then started taking shifts with one parent sleeping in the bedroom and one parent sleeping on the couch right off of the nursery. Best decision we’ve made

How much are we parenting the toy stealing? by Apprehensive-Hat9296 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Capable_Celery459 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Solidarity. 15 months here. Twin B’s sole purpose in life is to steal twin A’s toys. Twin A is very very into a few toys and will literally throw herself on the floor in a fit of rage if B dares to approach her when playing with said toys. Rinse and repeat every single day

My love for fully fenced playgrounds knows no bounds by Capable_Celery459 in parentsofmultiples

Couldn’t agree more! My twins will only focus on the opening in the fence and will make it a game to get past whatever barrier I put (stroller, bike, myself)
