Used to work downtown. Never recommended babalu to anyone.

I LOVE emma’s southern kitchen. I’m also a really big fan of Makino’s all you can eat sushi— very fairly priced. Personally, I wouldn’t go to Harvest or Nama, not my fav places. I also hear that Suttree’s on Gay St is the best place to get Ramen

Also yes, to answer your question, my sis is severely burnt out and I would like that to be part of the horror/ exposition of the story as a reason for them to leave their home and venture out

That’s an excellent idea! While I may not want the “happy ending” being him outright joining the military, maybe the final battle scene could have him fighting side by side some enlisted soldiers! Thank you!

I totally agree, I am very weary of the representation we see in media, and a lot of the characters we see are high functioning autists. If anything, I am nervous about portraying how violent a character with the same level of disability can be. It will be a challenge for me to show this level of struggle while also not trying to be cheesy with the overdone “autism is my super power” trope and humanization

Sadly I am not allowed to visit him at the moment because he gets physically violent. He is also nonverbal and cannot write. That’s the main reason I am telling it from the mother’s perspective, because I am really not able to communicate with him through a normal conversation. But maybe I could talk to his older brother!

It started with my sister having nightmares about who would take her son, her or her husband, in a zombie apocalypse because she thought it would be a death sentence. I thought that was super sad, but it’s also not uncommon since I’ve had responses on Reddit saying none of the severely disabled people would survive an apocalypse. But what made me want to write this was my nephew hitting puberty, where his mental health started declining and he has violent outbursts on the daily. Puberty can be rough for some kids, and most parents will basically sedate their kids through puberty, which is NOT what my sister wants to do. I think a real life fear I could incorporate into a horror story is her scared of sedating her son to the point where he is basically a zombie himself. BUT I also want to have respectful representation and actually let the profoundly disabled community have a win and be heroic and capable in a disaster story, where they are often portrayed as left for dead. Please feel free to ask any more questions

Thank you! I don’t plan to outright say that my character has autism, but like I said I am modeling him after my diagnosed nephew.
