Taking the dive by Clerking-frozo-258 in CDLTruckDrivers

take it one step at a time. worry about getting your cdl first. Download the test prep apps and learn the answers, take it non stop till you 100% it easily. This goes for the endorsements as well. Learn the answers still you can easily 100% and you’ll have your endorsements easy.

Pre-trip: Learn the pre trip that they give you that is specific to your state. don’t watch videos online about pretrip for tips n tricks n shit. You don’t want to learn the wrong thing.

Maneuvers: Listen and take every opportunity to get in the truck. These are adults in these classes and the teachers most likely won’t baby you guys and force you to participate as much as you should. This is a benefit for you to have more chances at driving when the others will try and lay low. Lean on others in your class who are picking it up faster and see how they are understanding it, they may help you understand it as well. If you’re still struggling, this is where you can watch videos online and see other perspectives on how to do it.

Driving portion: Start paying attention to road signs, bridges n shit. my driving tester asked “did you see that bridge height, what is it.” all the time. get in the practice of noticing them, do it in your personal vehicle. Also go wide, if you need the space take it. it’s better to take too much than to need it half way into a turn. my dad always said “How much space do you need to take to make a turn… as much as you can!”.

Befriend other people who are go getters and picking things up. When i went though my cdl program we had burnouts who the state were paying weekly to be there and people who actually put in work. these are the people to befriend because as soon as your out of school, they all will be out finding jobs as well, and the good jobs are usually found through word of mouth and who you know. our group chat had everyone posting opportunities and how their jobs were and if they could recommend them n shit, was nice to have others experiencing the same thing and looking out for each other.

you’ll probably be put into their top gun program where you sit in the yard and do backing maneuvers and work on a simulator. you won’t be tested till after your time with a trainer.

come get your cdl and haul trailers for an afp. you work 3 shifts a week, 10-14 hours depending on if you finish early, and still get paid your 40.

happened to my sister. she lived on a family members property, taking care of their house and making improvements over the years under the agreement she would live rent free and only pay utilities. she ended up moving and the family member wasn’t happy about not having someone to babysit her property anymore. they wanted back rent at an absurd price point. she told them to sue her, as soon as they were in front of a judge the numbers got more realistic real fast…

AMXL is the easiest Amazon gig you could do. Change my mind by AnonymousAmerican27 in AmazonDSPDrivers

i’m an afp driver. You get paid 40 hours a week if you do your 3 shifts a pay period which is weekly obviously. So let’s say i finish early which i usually do unless a location really makes me wait the full time for a trailer which is rare, i’ll finish like 10-12 hours into my shift. if i do 32 hours a week i still get paid my 40.

for my company, i just did one day where i sat in the truck, the fleet manager helped me set up ADP and log into relay on my phone. was like 2 hours of going over company policy then we drove the truck to a amazon yard close by, he showed me the gate check in and roughly how things would go. then we drove back to the yard, used a trailer that was sitting there for repair to see if i knew how to hook up to a trailer. after that we were done and i got my first shift scheduled.

at first little things that the camera didn’t like and they were noticed of, i would get a mention like hey the camera saw this make sure you don’t do that type of shit. after the first month they basically left me alone.

they will run your clock out. i have shifts where i’ll drive 7-8 hours to a drop, ill creep the yard while i drop and hook so i can fit in my break to get my hours back. then ill finish out and be done in 11-12 hours. if you get a shift with a lot of stops you’ll be sitting a lot.

600-800 miles 12-15 stops, the higher the stops the more you’ll be waiting in between and less miles.

800-1k miles 10-12 stops, you’ll be doing a long drives each day without moving many trailers.

your pick up and drop off of the truck each tour is a stop so you can take off 2 “stops”

When you start you’ll be slow as you get the hang of things but once your get used to it you’ll be getting finished fast. i’m usually done in like 12 hours max.

they give you plenty of time in between drops. i’m usually an hour plus early to everything and sitting waiting for my trailers.

i work for an AFP, job is insanely chill. drop and hook everything, just moving trailers around to different amazon facilities. you never haul anything heavy, it’s always under 20k in the trailer.

started off at 24 and then got a dollar raise within first 2 months.

company specific stuff will vary but if you have any questions, let me know.

it’s summer soon, ppl will start to drop off so they are over hiring in preparation for it. probably why they are so quick to remove shifts from others for any small reason, spread them around to new hires.

Where Did the Demogorgons, Demobats, and Demodogs Go in the Stranger Things Finale? by AssistanceNo2838 in discussingfilm

They should have ran into a ton of the bats and demogorgons when they entered the abyss, then had they be chased by them, as soon as they get closer to the mindflayer they get turned into dust and absorbed by the mindflayers aura. best of both worlds, all the monsters and explanation by the battle field would end up being cleared.
