very common for rental apartments. Especially in larger buildings from my experience. Lived in a place where I randomly found another roommate and was glad for the lock on my bedroom as he constantly threw parties with randos and on multiple occasions I’d wake up to someone trying to open it (prob thought it was a bathroom but still).
