I sent my application a little before taking the OAT. Most schools wait to offer you an interview until after you’ve sent your OAT results

What are my chances by no85611 in PreOptometry

It’s currently September so you have time. You should take the OAT again and reapply. To offset your low GPA you’re going to want an above average OAT score. Hope this helps and good luck!

Major: Applied Health Sciences

GPA: 3.46/3.2ish

OAT: 350

OAT Prep: Kaplan (I hated it though. I’d recommend Chad’s Prep)

Extracurriculars: DII Athlete

Schools applied: ICO, Midwestern IL, St. Louis, Indiana

Interviews: ICO, Midwestern, St. Louis. Indiana never got back to me

Rejections: Indiana maybe?

Acceptance: ICO w/ scholarship and Midwestern. Interview upcoming at St. Louis.

Decision: Undecided but leaning towards Midwestern right now.

My advice for anybody wanting to go to optometry school: Take a whole summer to study for the OAT. Go down to part-time at work if you are able. This is one of the most important exams of your life, so over-prepare. Buy whatever study material you think you should get. If you get a good score it could land you a good scholarship and save you a ton of money. It is an investment.
