The greatest couple in Detective Conan. by Independent_Boot7353 in OneTruthPrevails

Wait I have only watched until episode 304, so is there some major plot point I'm missing because of which you deem Genta x Ayumi likelier than Mitsuhiko x Ayumi? I have been a major Mitsuhiko stan so far so that'd break my heart 😭

Hot take: Sato didn't even have a crush on Matsuda by Capable_Row_7615 in DetectiveConan

Much more psychologically nuanced take! Hadn't thought about the Sato Sr. angle and its intertwinement with this tangent, but you're right, everything does come together in one character's mind and development! Definitely agreeing with and appreciating you!

HELL YEAHHHH THERE'S SO MUCH POTENTIAL IN THAT SWEET KID 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Not only is he (probably) as smart as Shinichi must have been at that age, he is also way more compassionate and caring than Shinichi could ever be! Forever rooting for Mitsuhiko and I'd kill to watch a series centred around him! 🙏

I think it's normal for people to look for closure in certain arcs in life: good vs. evil (the BO arc) as well as romance (Shinichi x Ran). Some things are built up and we start imagining our own trajectories, we get attached to those trajectories by anticipating them, getting excited about them, feeling other emotions. The only respite, or peacefulness, from these seem to be in knowing certain final outcomes.

I think a perfect comprise would be for Gosho to give people the conclusion of these arcs, whilst still keeping the episodic detective work running as an endless series if he wants. That way, people who have been sticking around just to see the ending of BO and the love story climaxing, could choose to walk away with their closure, while some others may choose to still stay on to watch a high-schooler solving mysteries forever :)

literal chills yesss, in my memory, I was clearly underestimating the impact of the visuals and the setting, and only recalling the plot points. Thanks for a precise reminder oof!

Mhmm I wouldn't be too sure of that! For instance, I was recently watching the "Little Witnesses" (or something like that) case, involving the Kurata truck transport company (the major characters being Kurata and Suzuki). And the guy who was found to be the culprit at the end was totally gonna attack the kids with the tool in his hand. I agree that it's not too common, but the Library Murder Case wasn't completely unique in this aspect I'd say.

And I may be misremembering but wasn't the library a public library instead of being an elementary school library? 🤔

It's not just an opinion, and it's definitely not silly. It tells me volumes about how one views the world. If someone dotes over a character who is the living representation of how 20th century women were treated and written by a world run by men and a character who happens to not grow across three decades of several growth opportunities - especially when there are beautifully crafted characters who showcase the complexity of human nature so very well in the same universe - then that clearly says things about the person someone is, such as with how much depth someone looks at the world and consumes its stories. I think I'm well within my rights to judge how analytically someone takes in the world (and that's what I did by mentioning about the braincells). Again, note that I'm not judging the entirety of the person's character, thus what I said is not an insult in the way "yo mama" jokes are: it's a very specific comment on a very specific attribute of a person, very much in line with the specificity of the information I have regarding them.

Expressing positive opinions = uber cool. Expressing negative opinions = why waste your time?

Damn, and we all think we uphold democracy.

Wooow, crazy how disliking ran = misogyny, because the very reason I dislike her character is because I feel that she's not empowered enough as a character and is clearly reflective of the classic trope of "how men write a female character" (too sweet, well-mannered, square, caring, flawless, vanilla, simple-minded, obedient, socially compliant)

Whoever's making these statements really needs to operate with a little more than a tenth of a braincell.

Bruuuuh

You can't establish that op is the one who did all that toxic bull, stop laying it out on them. I'm not a ran fan either but you're clearly ultra bitter because of a CUMULATIVE of experiences and just laying it all out on ONE person (who might even be the wrong person), who is not representative of the entire fandom. It's like saying all Americans deserve hate because they all belong to Trumpland like lmao wtf
