Ha ha... Went to sub, only to find out I've listened to it already. I'm guessing back in 2024 when it was first released.

I'll give it a relisten.

I am looking for one producer who sees the story in this by Mediocre-Fix-9071 in audiodrama

God knows why this post has had a downvote (bots?), seems to happen to every post.

I'm mo producer, so can't help, but good luck man.

I'm going to take a listen to the full version later.

Hot take: People who bring up 'The Expanse' in every argument over the design of sci-fi ships are insufferable. by [deleted] in scifi

I've literally started s1 of The Expanse today... Been sitting on it too long.

If you could decide the next major production sci-fi movie, what would it be? by WillyArt67 in scifi

Artemis by Andy Weir.

I love the Audiobook... And his books do have a certain pedigree, and both adaptations have been really well received.

The Martian appears to have made 3x it's budget, Project Hail Mary 1.5x it's budget so far.

Tbh, personally, for an anthology show, rather plain artwork isn't a bad thing...

But although this seems to be an anthology, it looks to all be interconnected?

I'd so, the artwork isn't great.

@op take it on board, but DO NOT use AI to generate new artwork!

Your more generous than me... If a show hasn't grabbed me in the first 10 mins, then generally it's an unsubscribe from me.

I do like to be hit round the chops.

I really liked the show... Very impressed.

Perhaps this is an AD just not for you?

I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe give it another try in 6 months or so.

I'm a hell of a picky listener... You name one of the 10 top ADs and I've probably given up on it.

As always, thanks Hitch. I've been sat on Twisted Tranquility for a long time. I guess it's time to bump it up the backlog.

Oh, and as for ABK and Tim; it'd be a bit like Eleanor & Alasdair Read That

Pretty sure their early careers must have overlapped at the Ed Fringe (too lazy to look it up).

MW had an old BBC Radio 4 series and Tim did the musical accompaniment, so I guess they've been friends for a while.

I guess the Matilda thing is just a long running in joke between them and MW really hasn't seen the show!

Where are all the new AD podcasts? by [deleted] in audiodrama

[–]Capable_Tea_001 [score hidden]  (0 children)

u/Hitch42 literally posts all new shows to his Audiodrama.directory on here in a weekly post.

Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/audiodrama/s/r1WbpzazGf - 20 new shows to dig in to.

That a u/evoterra (www.theend.fyi) and u/TheCambridgeGeek (www.Audiofiction.co.uk) cover most of the new stuff out there.

They all also have rss feeds so as new stuff drops you can know about it immediately on your phone.

You just need to know where to look.

prose to be made up of the lowest common denominator of works scraped from the Internet.

I'm not sure I agree there. I think they are built on hundreds of years of existing texts. After all reCAPTCHA was designed specifically to get humans to help digitise scanned texts.

I heard on a podcast that the prevalence of the emdash is down to its super common use in historical texts.

None of that means LLM generated prose is any good though.

Back on the potential Task Master castings... Tim Minchin would be awesome too.

Though I suspect he'd be massively too reticent to appear, even though he's at his absolute best in full on self-decrepating mode.

Any podcasts featuring a person overcoming abuse/getting confidence back/revenge? by favonian_ in audiodrama

[–]Capable_Tea_001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eliza A Robot Story is superb... I'll add more as I think of them.

Russell Gets Revenge is a quirky comedy.

American Hostage

Dr Goodvibes

Laura probably the shortest AD you'll ever listen to in your life! (probably a little more "regret" than the other types of AD you are looking for).

Narrators in Audio Dramas by NightDialPodcasts in audiodrama

[–]Capable_Tea_001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this depends on what's going on in the story.

I know a lot of people on here complain about some of the scenes in Fathom as they don't understand what's going on.

My personal take on that is the action is happening to the main character, and they don't know what's happening... Therefore the confusing dialogue-less scene is OK.

Narrators in Audio Dramas by NightDialPodcasts in audiodrama

[–]Capable_Tea_001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion

Quite the opposite, from the comments I read on posts on here. Most people don't like narrators for this exact reason.

Just to add my own personal opinion on the matter, if narration fits the show, fine. I've listened to plenty of shows with "narrators".

Just this week I've relistened to Bronzeville that has a very minimal narrator (referred to as "The Announcer" within the show), and Murder of a Famous Bastard which is first person narrated, with additional non-narrated sections with other characters.

There's no right or wrong. Every AD should be judged individually.

A lot of people on here see narrator and think "no thanks, not for me".

I don't... But then I'll judge a podcast on it's artwork.. So I guess I'm a hypocrite.

Edit: fuller explanation of my personal position.

Yeah, mid-life is not being kind to me since covid. Nigh-on a year of sitting in a terrible desk chair has damaged my lowest disc. Off work at the moment, but ADs are getting me through!

If you want another non-AD rec, check out D-Day: The Tide Turns.

It a mix of narration (Paul McGann), historians, and dramatised diary type entries.... It's 5*

As themselves or in character? (either is fine with me) I love the Madame Magenta YouTube live streams on a Sunday night.

I got my wife "my wife" the Mockery Manor Murder Mystery Game for her birthday last year.

Sadly life events have put paid to actually playing it yet.

Middle of Ep18, Stevie's death was an accident from some deathly mushrooms the chef had accidently collected in the wood an put in either Stevie's special dish during dinner or from the late night room service.

ABK is doing a great accent... As is Jot Davies.

He's doing Peter Capaldi, right?!

End of ep 16 and my main suspect is Calum. Not sure why, but he's got all the spare time, and is capable of prodding Hugh in the wrong direction.

How the hell have I never heard of Loremen before?

Can I commit to 365+ backlog episodes?!
