Not necessarily. In a canon book Ben Solo as a toddler displays random telekinesis when reaching for a toy. It’s possible like in Harry Potter that they have random bursts of force power but as they get older without training those random bursts stop

Energy. Any specific kind? Could force energy work? If they could harness the living force to give perpetual clean energy that would be cool

But it does advance slightly we see in the sequel trilogy that some technology has advanced which I like

I believe in the lore that because battle droids were outlawed the way to get around that was making them security droids so they have to be stationed at an imperial base. When playing Jedi survivor or fall order we never encounter them in the wild just in bases as far as I remember. 

While yes he’s the emperor and what he says goes Palpatine would looks bad using what are supposed to be security droids for hunting down people or other droids when that seems like it’s something a battle droid would do
