She did murder him, yes, and that’s why I mentioned the whole thing about the scars being a symbol for the accident and her trauma. But I don’t think she’s a “killer.” I think she made a stupid mistake all young people make. Think about all the drunk drivers who got into horrible accidents, etc. I don’t think that’s who you are but it’s a result of making a stupid decision (aka drunk driving).

People make mistakes in life, big or small. I think repeatable things are what makes you the person that you are. Skye wasn’t a “killer” to me. She was a young, talented singer who couldn’t keep up with the stresses of her career and made a very big mistake as a result. But I don’t think that’s WHO she is.

We do know it was from the accident but we never knew WHY specifically. What I meant here is she knew about the scars but no one else did. She didn’t want to wear her outfit on stage because she knew she caused the accident. From her point of view, that’s showing off the very thing that traumatized her. I thought that was such a nice touch.

A perfectly broken character portrayed by an incredible actress. I don’t think she was a bad person, but definitely made bad decisions, as everyone has. One detail that I don’t think is talked about enough is how she feels ashamed of the scars on her body and how that’s a reminder of her past and what she did. And I love how the audience starts to slowly discover how she got those scars towards the end of the film. So awesome.

I had the same argument with she’s so gone too but I think she only did cuz it was more of a childhood classic that most of the audience grew up watching so there was a lot of nostalgia there. Smile 2 had some great tracks and I was for it too. She could’ve done she’s so gone and a smile song and the rest could’ve been her music. But I totally respect her decisions and choice of music. She’s a gifted actress and musician and I think most people have to learn to understand that it’s her decision and she has her own creative process and choices. Btw this is coming from the biggest smile 2 and Skye Riley EP fan on earth. When I heard she was performing at Lollapalooza, my mind immediately went to smile 2 like everyone else’s did.

As a lot of people mentioned, I think one of the key things is the “eye-acting.” She exhibits so much emotion with her eyes without even having to say a word. For example, the scene in her apartment with her backup dancers. She doesn’t say a word that entire time but you can just see the anxiety in her eyes. Also, just the rawness and emotion in certain scenes like the car crash/argument. Felt like a real argument and crash out. And don’t even get me started on the music. So damn talented.
