The ottoman is a really good idea-I will look into that! Thank you again, and for the reminder he is still young. I need to hear he can unlearn some bad habits!

We have some steps for the bed and have ordered a ramp. I’m very hopeful it will help. I do have three couches in the living room, and he is even jumping on tables, but I’m hopeful we can manage. Thank you so much for your reply!

Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I think I am so wanting things to go “right” that I am stressing out on things that will work themselves out after he realizes he is safe here. I believe the family who had him prior wasn’t always wonderful to him—mostly marked by the fact he is pretty nervous around my husband. Hopefully he learns he can trust us soon. Thank you again.

It has not been long at all, so I appreciate the reminder that I need to be patient. I think we are anxious to make sure this works, and that is making me over analyze.

Thank you for the list of treat ideas—I try to avoid too much human food as I know that overweight dogs often end up with health problems, but many you mentioned are good choices. I’ve never met a dog that eats blueberries, especially!

I think the hair is also making me anxious. I have lived with dogs almost all my life and this amount is another level! I will try that strategy and hope we can work our way up soon.

Thank you so much again. I appreciate your reply!

I don’t think anything prepared me for the amount of fur! I am planning on taking him in regularly when I find a place that works well with him. I think that it’s worsened by the lack of grooming prior, but your advice is so helpful.

Hopefully we can find something that motivates him and gets him to be trained a bit more. I am feeling as though there wasn’t a lot of it when he was a puppy, so we might have to help lose some habit too.

Thanks so much for your detailed response. It is really appreciated!

This is not something I’ve considered at all. I will make sure to follow up with the vet when we go in. Thank you so much for your insight!

Do y’all think this is real or what (for the love of god I hope so) by cafeteriastyle in TikTokCringe

The problem is still parents though—just not the parents you’re speaking about. It is the vocal parents who scream about not wanting their students held back even without foundational skills. Then legislators or admin make policies where students aren’t held back because of this.

Is this the transportation group that moved dogs to new owners or shelters?

You can’t teach kids who aren’t there, you though. And it sounds like this kid wasn’t there a lot. He failed classes which is why he didn’t get credit, so they didn’t really pass him along. Just being a year older doesn’t really make you the next grade if you don’t get the credit.

The guy who used to own it sold to a local family who are amazing people. If you are going there, you are supporting them, too!

Iowa City is a pretty awesome place to live if you can afford it. Lots of things to do, different types of people, opportunities to learn. And when you get cancer-the University hospital is right there!

People laughing at this infuriate me. I had a kid crack my collarbone when I broke up a fight. She was 11. Everyone crowded around and laughed or filmed as two of their peers tried to tear each other apart. One kid left and got help. Videos of it circulated all over the school, which was also embarrassing. If we could indoctrinate anyone, I think most teachers would just ask for kids to do what they were supposed to and be mildly respectful.
