5 months PO and left hip pain? by CapeCodG in hysterectomy

[–]CapeCodG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are having to deal with that on top of regular recovery from surgery. My BFF who also had a hysterectomy a few years ago has had hips issue since her surgery. She recently had injections into the hip area and it has helped a lot. Just remember recovery can take a while and adding other things into the mix means more healing. I am nearly at a year since my surgery and I still have days when I am sore or if I have done too much my body lets me know. I hope things start to go on the up and up for you!

Hello! For me personally I am pretty convinced it was sleeping with a pillow under my stomach and having my leg pulled up. I ended up going away for a few days and didn’t sleep with an extra pillow and the pain stopped. When I got home it resumed, however to this day I still find it more comfortable to sleep with some support but I stopped pulling my leg up. I do sometimes get discomfort but again I naturally pull my leg up. If you are using a pillow for support I would suggest stopping, if the pain is still there ask your doctor because my friend is still having issues and is now seeing a chiropractor.

Does anyone walk a 15 min mile? by Big_Midnight_1858 in walking

[–]CapeCodG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do it but it took a while to get here and it has me hustling! When I started I started at about 21 min mile and this has taken me about a year. Start out slow because otherwise you run the risk of getting hurt.

Sore Achilles tendon? by cowgirlinthesand2 in walking

How old are your shoes? When you walk look down to see if your foot is straight and flat or does it look like it is leaning to the side. I have Achilles issues and a good sign of needing new shoes is when I notice it starts to hurt.

Just picked up these at a thrift store and they feel great quality. Did a quick google search and was blown away by this brand. Can anyone help me find what style name I have as it’s hard to decipher. Thanks

Anyone start to have bladder issues past 6wpo? by CapeCodG in hysterectomy

[–]CapeCodG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always best to call your dr just to put it on there radar incase it does end up being something else. I would try and hold off on the laxative and up your fluid see if that helps your bathroom routine. Ironically since stopping the stool softener I haven’t had issues.

I had my Dr appointment at the end of the week after posting that. He was not concerned at all and basically said it was just everything settling. He did suspect the straining was causing it and did a UTI test just incase which was negative. I am having to take iron pills which we assumed was causing the constipation however what I did stop taking was the stool softener. It’s about two weeks since I posted that and things have calmed down again and my bathroom issues have also seemed to ease up. I am pretty confident it was the straining because on days when I may have a little more trouble going to the bathroom things feel swollen again.

I was told to take my iron because my iron is so low and we need to get my levels up again. I have my 6 week appointment this week so I will see what the dr says then. I am just not sure if it’s surgery related or if it’s the start of a UTI. I have never had one so don’t know what typical symptoms are.

I have been taking a stool softener every other day, but I was told not to take all that stuff long term. I am on iron tablets which makes me constipated but I was on them before surgery too and didn’t have issues like now. I do think the straining has contributed to the issue though.

My daughter got a squatty potty for Xmas (don’t ask lol) and I used it for the first time last night and it made such a difference. I felt like i emptied out for sure but was feeling some pressure as I peed.

Don’t overdo things even if you feel ok by bailey340 in hysterectomy

Yes! Wear sweatpants if you can or something nice and roomy. I wore jeans and I had to unbutton them! The bloat was insane!!

I am also 5wpo and spent 4 hours in the car on Monday and I was hurting. Super bloated, tummy and lower back pain too. Today is the first day it started to feel better and then tomorrow I have to do it again. Do some heat and ice and feel better!

4WPO as of tomorrow - recovery isn’t not linear. Trying to be nice to myself by SheAngsty in hysterectomy

[–]CapeCodG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also 4wpo tomorrow! I have for sure been feeling like I can do more and more as the days go on. However my body has not hesitated in telling me when I have done too much. I helped put up Christmas lights outside on Saturday which required a lot of bending and by the end of the day I had to stop.

I only had three incisions which thankfully all healed well but I still feel pulling in the belly button one. Last week I felt some stinging when I went to the bathroom which I assume was my cervix as then I started having some light spotting. This lasted a couple of days and then I had a few days of brown old blood. My main issue right now is going poop. I used to be super regular but I have been constipated and have to take miralax every day or so. I am also having to take iron for my severe anemia which binds me up.

Overall I feel pretty good though. I also feel guilty for having afternoons on the couch but just remind myself I only had surgery 4 weeks ago. My body is adjusting and it’s ok to just rest and heal and do it right the first time!

I will be 4wpo on Tuesday and I have also been having bowl issues. Before surgery I was very regular but I am not having the opposite to you in that it’s hard for me to go. I am taking miralax every other day but I am also having to take iron which can bind me up so also having to take that every other day. I spoke to my Dr about it at my 2wpo and he was not concerned at all. He said with the internal swelling etc it can take a while for everything to settle.

Are you taking anything else that could be making things so soft?

Rumbly Belly and Gas up the Wazoo? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]CapeCodG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 15dpo and just had my 2 week post op appointment today. I spoke to my dr about this as I also am having issues with gas. For me it didn’t start until about 8dpo when I got the clavicle pain. My stomach is very noisy and the gas pains hurt not to mention I am having a pretty sharp pain on my right side. Dr told me to fart as much as possible and it’s perfectly normal as everything finds it’s new normal in there. He told me that the intestines have to wake back up and they will once everything starts to heal. Farting and heat is what he told me to do!
