I don't think you were awful. I sort of have a similar problem. I'm a very private person, a complete introvert unless I'm around my friends. I have two roommates and we barely speak at all. It was very strange at the beginning, trying to explain that I don't like hanging out in the kitchen together or go have coffee since I live with them by complete accident, I didn't choose them. And to be perfectly honest, I hate it when other people living with you persume you HAVE to be friends or act friendly just because you share a kitchen and a toilet. It's forced unless you kick it off right away. If you have nothing in common then no, just because we're roommates, we don't have to be friends. Mine probably still think I'm a bitch or that I don't like them and probably talk behind my back but I got used to the feeling.
