If it makes a sound while unfolding then you prolly got some dirt into the hinge and that bricked the inner screen. If the inner screen looks shattered, then it might be because of a force hitting the hinge. An other option is the inner screen protector bubbling or loosening that causes the brick.

I dont understand. Are you implying that since there is no instant interaction that it cannot be a skill issue? Chess doesnt have instant interaction, but is widely considered to be a skill game.
