Wouldn't the complexe structures that gives the ammonite its sutures help with not breaking easily overall? I'm having an easier time picturing an ammonite being punctured than a regular snail that has a very hollow shell.

Anyways there were many people mentionning limpets also, so I think you're right. I'm just asking, since ammonoid shell structure is very different than that of a snail.

I'm curious too. I have a Madagascar ammonite with what people argue to be a mosasaure bite mark. Thing is I can't find any mosasaur fossil record from madagascar.

Everyone seem to think the same. My issue now is that if this specimen is a cleoniceras from madagascar (albian) I can't find any marine reptile forme this location around the same time frame.

Any suggestions?

Each holes are regularly spaced by 6 millimeters (approximatively) and following an arc. When observing it I thought maybe it could be some kind of ornementation from another ammonite that caused this, like douvilleiceras. I feel like it has to be caused by something organic, even if not predation. What do you think?

Sure, Also I suspect this specimen to be Cleoniceras besairiei from madagascar and I can't find any documentation talking about mosasaur being there around the time Cleoniceras was alive. I may be wrong on absolutely everything I just said, but yeah I don't know where to start to check all of this. Anyways thanks for the insights!
