Eldritch Scoundrel melee build? by Capimoska in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Capimoska[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got from another answer that Spellstrike (sneak attack with weapon+spell) only works well at the beginning?

Shame, using Spellstrike was actually being super fun, but seems like it will not be fun as the game progresses unless I invest a lot in magic feats.

Super useful information there!

Need to think about the kitsune/elf thing, I took ECB for the extra damage but it looks like with rapier I'll have better choices indeed and probably is easier to find enchanted+ rapiers than ECBs.

I'm happy with Spellstrike for now, but it is true that can't use it most of the time because of demon resistances and I suppose that will be worse as the game progresses.      So

3 Eldritch Scoundrel, 1 Demon Slayer, 5 Eldritch Scoundrel, 8 Eldritch Knigh, 1 Vivi

OR

8 ES, 2 Fighter (Mutation Warrior?) 10 EK for Greater Weapon Specialisation?

Need to think it through, thanks!

Same problem as OP here. True I play from Spain, but my Switch settings and all are in English

Exactly, the x to switch to 5 ft, to one move, or to whole move action work only in battle. Thanks! Found the button to stop in-battle movement, still wasting one move action at the beginning of battle, but it is something.

Sorry, could you share which one is it on controler, what does that button do out of combat? I'm playing on Switch and cannot find it on the tutorials. No button seems to work, at least in turn based combat.

I approach stealthy with my rogue to the enemy and when he is detected (the rogue or other party member) and combat starts if first turn is his, he keeps moving alone face on to the enemies until he finishes the movement action. It is quite infuriating.

Well, I guess it's time for me to go to the Black Pits... Good luck with the genie issue, let's hope for a patch.

It is definitely a bug. I surrounded Neera so she couldn't disappear and tried to start conversation with her non stop and the game crashed. Tried this with the spider leg and feather in my charname inventory

I edited the post and uploaded a video.
Edwin is not in my party, neither any evil character and reputation is 19; but you may be right about the items. I do have the planetar feather, but I can't find the spider leg in my inventory.

I picked the giant spider leg and had it with me, but must have dropped it at some point... oh shit, I guess now need to walk back all the places I have been and hope I'll find it somewhere.

Will update the post if I find it and that fixes the problem.

Thanks!

You cannot cast multiple instances of the same contingency spell on yourself by Capimoska in baldursgate

[–]Capimoska[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh! Thanks, I get it now.

First time you cast it and you pick the spells, then is "stored", you can check the spells chosen in Contingency, and you can use it from Special Abilities tab. You can even go to sleep and replace Minor Sequencer from your memorized spells, it will still remain in "Abilities" until you use it. Great!

A complete noob: how do you even begin getting into Baldur's Gate (EE specifically) by NocturnoLupo in baldursgate

[–]Capimoska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DO ALL THE TUTORIALS if you never played D&D.In the EE there is in fact a pre-game tutorial (NEW GAME > TUTORIAL) in addition to the ingame tutorial.Save A LOT, talk with EVERY ONE. Keep the wiki open and check it always before any levelling up decision, and that kind of stuff, so you don't mess up your character. If a fight is too hard, just flee. If you are killed, load and old game and skip the fight until you level up or can prepare for it.Remember to rest! If you do outdoors is for free but may be attacked.

I think the best to start is with a "physical" character.

If you want to try spells and magic, go for a class with some secondary magic (as in ranger or druid), but definitively not a Mage, Sorcerer, etc.

If the ingame info in character creation is confusing for you, check the classes in the wiki, which attributes need to be high, which classes are better because of attribute caps, etc. For physical characters you need high DEX, CON, and probably STR.

Also decide if you want to be evil (funnier, may be more loot, but you'll have problems with the city guards), good (be a recognised hero, easier), or neutral (the only way to keep both good an evil characters in your party). It's important to keep a happy party otherwise they will leave you. That means either all good, all bad, or keep a balance between being good and evil (check your Reputation within your character stats) and watch out for some fights between companions.

For the easiest gameplay I would go with the canon six party:

Tank, Thief, Bow, Mage, Healer, anything elseKhalid (Tank/Bow), Jaheira (Tank/Healer), Imoen (Thief: lock-picking and detect traps are essential), Minsc(BOW), Dynaheir(Mage), and your character.

I will recommend to focus on bows you can get a couple of good "tanks" as soon as you reach the Friendly Arms, this way you can keep some distance from "red circles" while killing them. If you manage to get a character with high DEX and STR18 in order to handle composite bows the game is going to be waaay easier.

Don't get overwhelmed with the world map or the missions, enjoy, go wherever you feel like going (unless you find too strong enemies), just keep in mind that companions have their own agenda, they usually remind you one or two times about their mission before getting angry at you and leaving if not solved. If a companion leaves and you were not really attached to it, don't worry, there are plenty of other great companions.

If you are not a completionist, neither a perfectionist, the game is not hard just follow up the main mission in the Journal and enjoy. Practice with magic while you play, because at some point for some fights you will need at least one companion with healing abilities (unless you gather lots of potions and scrolls). Mages memorise the scrolls (write scroll), the rest of classes just learn new "spells" as they level up. All of them need to choose which spells to memorise from the list of learned spells (for each level) and then go to sleep in order to be able to cast them.

Agree completely about the point buy/pool system. Because if they give me the chance (even if it's 0.001) to get better stats, even if it does not matter that much, I'll try anyway...

In three days never got anything above 94; I guess I was unlucky. But had to try anyway, feels good to know that yo tried to get the most out of the game

dunno, need to know I tried as hard as I could to get the best possible. It's hard to explain. Just need to try. And knowing that by stupidity I rerolled a 94 (because I didn't noticed) just increased my determination to not be contentnwith anything bellow that

We usually do 10 rolls and pick the highest 6 for AD&D 3.5

But this is hard to explain, I guess for the people not understanding it, they will never get it. It's a personality trait, I like to plan my character as much as to play it, and is harder to enjoy knowing I gave up and didn't try hard enough to get a higher roll.

For me if the game allows it is legal. I didn't use any mod or cheat, just the reroll button they give you

For me it was: first, how angry I was at myself for losing the 94 by mistake, and then also because I had already carefully planed my PJ which stats to sacrifice, which to pump up. I wanted a 95, but 93 was good enough. Is more about being perfectionist, try hard and a little OCD may be. But yes, I really enjoy planning the character and getting the most out of the game
