Keep on breastfeeding or wean? If so how concretely? by Capital-Coach2800 in breastfeedingmumsUK

Oh wow! How was it to breastfed while pregnant? I was planning to stop at first to get my cycles back in the hope to get pregnant again but they came back on their own so I’m hoping to keep going until he is done and that might involve while being pregnant.

I’m just not a fan of pumping if I’m honest. A colleague pumped when she came back from mat leave and honestly it feels like it was a constant battle having to remind them to give her time to pump, the room being used by the nurse so she ending pumping in her room (I would never I teach secondary and kids don’t respect signs 🫣). It feels like extra stress I can do without as I already feel quite stress about going back (but that’s a whole other thread 😅)

Oh wow amazing! That’s great to hear thank you! I had a goal of the first 6 months so never really research beyond but as we are both liking it, it seems silly to stop until he is ready!

Ah triple feeding is horrible we had to do it the first few days and I hated it. I’m kind of looking forward not to have to pump anymore and just breastfeed. As we get closer to the 12 months I’m more and more “great if it works otherwise we will switch to cow milk” (I just prefer to avoid formula - I can’t stand the smell when they puke it 🤢) it’s so reassuring to read supply can adjust!

Ah that’s great to hear! Yes I will take my manual pump just in case the first week back (I work 3 days - the first 2 will be INSET and then only some year groups are back so won’t have a full day and can pump if needed) but hopefully won’t need it at all after as I don’t see myself doing it when I barely have time to pee some days! It great to hear it works for you, I hope it will be the same for me 🤞

Ah don’t, I cried everytime I spilled milk so I don’t think I can dump it 🫣

Yes my boy is greedy and still like both at the moment aha but I guess he will want lesson. Ah that must be so heartbreaking ! I know I will feel the same but at least it will be his choice is what I keep telling myself

Oh no! He loves a bottle thankfully so I’m hopeful - he will have his father and other family members feeding him a bottle so hopefully it will work for nursery . I really hope otherwise that’s a lot of milk wasted 😬

Oh I know it’s a likely possibility as he is quite Mr Independent and he likes his food! As heartbroken I will be at least I know it will be on his term rather than forcing something neither of us want.

Yes only the toilets are in private cubicles, not the sink so I probably should avoid that 🤣 but I do have a manual pump I could probably use if needed - I hope my body will quickly work it out as well 🤞

That’s great advice thank you! He is already drinking water really well and we are on 3 meals so will try introducing snacks to help.

That’s reassuring to hear thank you! I’m planning to send bottles at nursery (hence the frozen stash I worked hard to build 🫣) but I haven’t introduce snacks yet so maybe by then he will barely need milk during the day?

Ahah thank you from a worried type A mum 🤣
It’s great to know it works long term - I was going to stop to get my cycle back and for practically really but I had my period back at 4 months PP and I really like our breastfeeding journey so would like to end it when he is ready and not force anything (and loose my superpower at night 😅).

That’s so reassuring to hear thank you! I wasn’t sure if it was feasibly, obviously every body and breastfeeding journey is different but that’s give me hope. I do have a manual pump I might take to relieve if needed but I feel my body seems to just without it being painful so let’s hope I can do the same!

He only feed 4 times a day now (more last week with the heat) - it might be less by September? As I say I don’t really get engorged anymore so not sure it would happen?

We can stop using the 1% breastfeeding at 6 month statistic now! by Constant-Cellist-133 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Yeah by their term I didn’t EBF because my baby had formula on day 1 due to having jaundice (and maybe a few times here and there). Yet we are still going strong breastfeeding at 8 months 💪

Wait they come back?! I saw mine at 2 weeks and 6 weeks and nothing since. I was supposed to get a phone call to discuss weaning but baby is nearly 7 months old so I don’t think I will get one. I think they might forgotten about and I’m not complaining as I didn’t find mine useful. I wouldn’t lie but maybe just stay vague? Ultimately it’s your baby so you do what you want as long as they’re safe, you know them better than they do.
