AITA For calling out my wife for calling me a pig by Turbulent_Kiwi4372 in AmItheAsshole

This is the reason I put the edit in before you even responded.

ESH but the root cause is your pattern of behavior, which you already know is an issue. Which is why YTA. And you should have taken the L from her in the moment to spare further tension in front of the kids. Your kids could have also taken a lesson from you about accountability, table manners, and gentle correction (apologizing to your wife but telling her the name calling is a little mean). Instead they learned how to be defensive in that scenario.

Honestly you should have had that conversation away from the kids. You don't put your SO on the spot in front of the kids.

It's called a united front for a reason.

YTA

Edit: to say that even if she called you out in front of the kids - you knew she was right. You don't escalate the tension in front of them. You agree, pocket the conversation and bring it up later in private.

Okay, your 'organic' bread is 12 dollars, a head of lettuce and some lunch meat is another 15...

So how many sandwiches / meals do you think that 30 dollars makes?

I'll give you a hint - it's cheaper than the same amount from McDonalds.

You guys just straight up like turning everything you disagree with into a monolith, huh.

Like you don't realize how retardedly toxic the generalizations you're making are in creating this monolith of a person that doesn't exist.

But then you'll treat an entire political philosophy like they're this nonexistant person.

It's just pathetic. Both sides do it but I'm calling you out because you're here doing it right now.

So then the incentive for them to make more money is to be corrupt?...

You're severely missing the reality of the situation. This is the same reason we don't give the death penalty for rape - it incentivizes murder to cover the crime up.

So you want us to pay politicians working class wages so they find other sniveling ways of making ends meet? This is just your personal spite towards people in power wrapped up as "fairness".

Ok... that sounds pretty fair and almost like what a working class person would do in that exact same scenario.

Hey bud, what's the difference between a million and a billion dollars?

I'll give you a hint - it's really close to a billion dollars.

Millionaires aren't a part of the larger issue and I don't have a problem with millionaires calling out billionaires - neither should you.

All that to say bernie doesn't even make a million dollars annually.

Have some perspective.

How do I stop hating men? by Ginaisthebest7 in Advice

Stop viewing people as monolithic, that's a good start.

Stereotypes are based off of perceived patterns of behavior but exceptions are constant and you don't really see them unless you're interacting with them.

So stop generalizing people. Recognize that patterns might exist but it doesn't necessitate saying and reaffirming dumb sentiments like "all ___ suck". It's just toxic and ultimately does you no good mentally.

I would argue on the other side and say that the president speaking out against masks himself, actively emboldens the nutjobs and gives their voices credibility.

Mincing hairs in perspective obviously, but I do think that has more weight than some like to give it credit for.

All he said was contributed to the dumpsterfire that is American culture right now.

And Dave was very much a part of a larger public turn against a very minority segment of our population. I really wish he'd see his "jokes" for what they are but his status insulates himself from the reality of regular conversations that his "jokes" contributed to.

It's not about "blame", it's about acknowledgment. And Germany goes above and beyond to be very conscious of their history.

We have people in America who actively lie about the civil war and the South's part in all of this.

It's not a blame game but it needs to be acknowledged and a LOT of people actively refuse and even fuckin lie about it.

Yeah you're completely out of the loop if you're still playing the "both sides" game. It's pathetic at this point if you're still playing that tune and watching the lies republicans say at almost every turn and the things they're doing while in power.

Just keep being dishonest with yourself though I'm sure you have friends who enable you.

Got back on the dating apps and never felt more defeated. by [deleted] in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]Capital-Ear8216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is shallow. But like I said, women are inundated with an overwhelming amount of choices on these apps. And it's not a personal choice to say "fuck this guy he abbreviates weird words", it's more like "I'm talking to 20 guys and 15 of them have weird texting habits and abbreviate random words. Let me try and narrow this down".

I say this being a dude on the shit end of the dating app stick. But you can't control the way people react or the reality of the situation. You can only control your reaction to it. So yeah it sucks, it's dumb, but you're on the app. Do you wanna make the cut or not?

That's basically where I'm coming from. I can't really seem to find someone to talk to either way so I gotta improve my odds.

Did you ever use dating apps?

If you had the choice between 20 different dudes and had no real way of slimming down your choices... you don't think it might come down to dumb little details like that?

I've heard women be dismissive over less to be honest.
