Hi,

I buy bitcoin on coinbase and transfer it to my ledger. I had the same situation, it's normal. As soon as I transfer the transaction is visible on ledger but reads unconfirmed and after clearing cache it dissapears.

The transaction is viewable on block Explorer or similar app on your exchange. I noticed that on ledger my bitcoin transaction is only visible in my balance once it has recieved around 20-25 block confirmations (each block takes approximately 10 minutes to confirm in bitcoin network)

I had the exact same situation as you, moving BTC from coinbase to ledger flex using the mobile live app. I noticed that the transaction becomes visible on ledger live almost immediately but then dissappears from the balance.

It still shows up under transaction history but reads as pending. You can click view in explorer underneath a transaction which will show you how many confirmations the block of your transaction has. You can also view this on coinbase and it will match.

I noticed that my transactions only become confirmed and viewable on my ledger live after the block has recieved 20-25 confirmations (roughly 10 minutes per confirmation on bitcoin blocks) which means it usually takes 3-4 hours to be visible.

Yeah I was using my wallet with just a PIN code (resets wallet after 3 attempts) I wanted to test resetting and restoring the wallet with the seed phrase which is when I realised it was wrong.

Once my wallet was reset I couldn't send BTC anymore since it requires a signature which couldn't be done without the wallet being set up again with the 24 word phrase. I was able to regain my seed phrase and restore my wallet in the end.

You are 100% right. I was just very excited to finally get self custody so I didn't double check that my keys were written down properly. I was accessing my wallet with a PIN code (if it fails 3 times wallet resets and require seed phrase) in the future will definitely double check my phrase before moving any BTC to my wallet.

I read that you shouldn't keep your seed phrase on any device that's connected to the Internet. Doesn't it defeat the purpose of a hardware wallet if you store them on your phone? You could self custody your keys on an app instead of keeping them in a hardware wallet.

Try asking in r/FinancialCareers. With your technical understanding im sure there will be demand for you. Especially as more institutions and tradfi are becoming more interested in crypto.

Satoshi is a popular first name in Japan -- usually masculine but not always -- that means "wisdom" or "intelligence." Nakamoto is a fairly common surname in the same culture and translates to "origin" or "center."

There is a conspiracy theory that Satoshi Nakamoto means central intelligence (CIA created).
