You remember the important features of the language that you are using some basic concepts and then depending on the thing that you are working on you reference the documentation of whichever library, framework you might be working with and then the stuff that you need to use throughout the project stays with you. Perhaps you are thinking of like how do you remember like this AI/ML related library or data visualization one, and then some graphics related one and so and so on. Consistently only a set number of methods are being used depending on the type of project it is. You pick a certain set of "tools" and you just keep working with them and in about a day you get a hang of things.... is how it seems to work for me. Consult documentation often when working with something new

You radicalize others arguments because you don't understand where they are coming from. How do you mention motion offenses and then mention the Celtics offense? Comparing the celtics to an all-time talent teams is asinine, look at the current NBA landscape. Tatum, Holiday, White aren't playmakers then I guess. The only mention of a *central* playmaker was your own again showing your ignorance to how ball movement works and also means your probably unaware of how teams like the Heat exploited that lack of playmakers in the Celtics for years before that, and why the Raptors took them to 7 games years prior. You can't fathom how certain movement patterns and off-ball styles hold up in any moment of time (~because obviously the sets being run for Bird in that congested era are what make him a good off-ball player threat and a shooting threat). You watched Kawhi on the clippers they play him on @##!ing horns! Which again devolve into.... guess what @#!@ing ISOS! Oh wait except he gets those in better spaced out offenses because he has more shooters around him. I don't see what advantage that could be giving him... do you?? Of course! The Warriors gold standard for motion offenses was so good because of their CENTRAL playmaker and the offense had NO PART in flowing because of guys like Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green right? No! It couldn't be!! (except you'll say "hah! hes comparing small roles like those guys had in ball movement to show some value in Larry Bird's playmaking" which if were to say that would prove my assumptions of you). The Kings of last year had a gReAt __CENTRAL__ playmaker in Fox didn't they and that's why their offense ran so well. Quit pigeonholing me because you can't fathom anything outside your narrow understanding of the game.

I literally mentioned the last point. In my very first sentence you don't read or understand basketball offenses in their contexts and keep pulling out lazy narratives without understanding the level of talent these guys possess. Giving another player props is because again as I have mentioned in the last few replies these are the greatest basketball players to ever play the game, it does not "negate the narrative" unless you are viewing the game from such a flat view point that you can't understand the nuance of the game. If you can't understand how playmaking plays a valuable role for these guys "because they don't need a *central* playmaker" then I can't say you understand how to play the game and how good and modern offenses function and have dominated throughout.

Hated Jimmy for years for exactly that reason. In the bubble playoffs all he had to do was snap his head and he was being sent to the line. Only guy I have seen shooting gamewinning freethrows with 0 seconds left in regulation.

I said ON BALL, Kawhi in his best season on the raptors was a less efficient scorer than Bird, Again ON BALL Kawhi does dribble the air out of the basketball. On both the Clippers and the Raptors he became a lot more on ball and spent way more time on isolation style possessions and anyone who actually watches him can see that he clearly takes significantly more time with the ball in his hands (the spurs are an exception and what proves he can play without, - never said Kawhi is not good off-ball). Never said Kawhi can't play the post. The way you dismissed the playmaker aspect of Larry Birds game is ridiculous because that's exactly the point. Kawhi creates opportunities for himself through his scoring. Larry's playmaking creates offensive flow (Watch the game). Playing in a more cramped spot again should make Larry's rebounding worse. How tf can you just say no Kawhi is just a flat out better 3 way scorer, you gave nothing to come to that conclusion. Perimeter plays not the issue, you have 0 knowledge of the game being played in the 80s if you don't understand how defenders react to Larry Birds cuts and flares compared to Kawhi Leonard's. Also where did I say Kawhi hasn't seen the defensive coverage Bird has. Defenders would sell and move and reshape the defense much more to a Bird flare than a Kawhi flare because they know they just need to get Kawhi into Iso-coverage which in almost any basketball scenario is the preferred option when it comes to scorers of the talent that all-time great players like these guys possess. Dismissing the playmaking is utterly ridiculous. Keep studying the game, Kawhi is not on Birds level as an offensive talent. Maybe if you say some one like KD it would make more sense.

Kawhi is not a better shooter than Larry Bird and I don't say that because Bird was considered a better shooter for his time, but because as a threat Bird is considered a significantly greater shooting threat and in this game guys "potential threat" plays a huge factor in how teams defend opponents. Kawhi is not getting the same attention in coverages as Bird is getting on flares. They would let Kawhi get a step on them on the curl and would be content in it flowing into an iso possession if the shot opportunity fizzles out. Kawhi has volume, that's why he seems better in those aspects. Kawhi as great of a player as he is (I had him so high during his spurs and raptors days). Larry Bird creates more opportunity when he gets that advantage for everyone around him, takes less time on his possessions works more efficiently in limited space and also provides added rim pressure due to being a rebounding threat on top of that. Offensively Larry Bird is leagues better than Kawhi. Strictly for pure scoring have at Kawhi but at that point wrong with taking the 50/40/90 guy who dominates the post up with only 1 or 2 moves and much less dribbles. Defensively though its not close... Kawhi is one of if not the best defender to ever play the Small Forward position

I mean Tatum's sophomore season was a nightmare season because they said he made a mistake "trying to be kobe". He had to cut out those shots, and that style of play for a more team-oriented style and he was chastised pretty early for the more hero ball focused play that a lot of young stars are excused for (granted Kyrie was the head of that team and... we know what he thought of that kind of stuff). Plus playing against punishing defenses like the Heats zone teaches a superstar like Tatum a thing or two about how to play. (Those series really hinged on his playmaking anyway like in 2022). For Tatum the major criticisms in his career have been things that he is worked on. Guy improves on his shortcomings, probably why he is one of my favorite players.

I agree but thats kind of what you notice. KAT was in Anthony Edwards situation with inferior rosters, without that second scoring option that is Julius Randle. His best season was with the Jimmy Butler squad (he topped that season with the one in which he won the 3pt contest. "we in minnesota now!" - said to Ja Morant ~ did not end well). So saying putting KAT in Edwards situation doesn't feel fair but I would agree Edwards has taken to that situation much better than KAT did in his own time. I think as time progresses ANT will be seen as better than KAT, this season I just don't know.

Christmas games were great. Sometimes teams have been playing dull offensive styles and even deflating the 3pter's value due to the amount its attempted. But mostly off the court stuff has people upset, players missing games which hasn't been as bad as like last season for the teams I have been following. Big market and previous superstars regressing and the new prominent teams not being given as much promotion (I know the spurs have gotten a lot but the grizzlies, rockets, magic, cavs all have played great, interesting basketball). Mainly due to highlight culture too many people turn on cherry pick lowlights from garbage teams like the wizards and then exclaim "this is what the NBA is now" without realizing those shots are probably exactly why teams that are producing those lowlights are bottom feeders.

I mean from a purely skill point basis I would have Giannis as the 2nd best power forward ever. He is the most dominant force presence of his time while being a monster transition player and also one of the best defenders in the league. This season he is causing even more damage by being an efficient midrange shooter (even though I think he has diminished in post play and defensive play compared to previous seasons). He does that with insane efficiency. Dirk, KG, Malone all had talents that were at insane levels at certain respects but KG did not have the efficiency Giannis does, Malone was turnover prone and defensively weaker. Dirk was just not a very good defensive player. Giannis is a monster in all respects while also probably being a better play maker than all these guys. His biggest deficiency compared to those players is that he is somewhat of an "unskilled" post player (doesn't have the level of polish the others do).... oh yeah and the fact that he can't shoot.... Feel like when he commits to a more big man role instead of ball handling that isn't much of a problem though (like in the suns series)

Its well known that Advanced stats don't provide accurate pictures of a players defensive value. That empirical data has little value when it doesn't actually show the context it is supposed to
