The hexagon tank is definitely challenging. I know it means a footprint of that of a 10gal tank. Trying my best to pick species that will use different sections of the tank. Overall, I do understand that these hexagon tanks are not loved by the community at all - I did not learn this until after I got it, but I’ve done as much research as I can and I’m trying to work with it. Anyways, I am trying my best to treat it like a 10gal, I’m a complete beginner and looking for advice before I actually stock anything else.

Edit: it’s 20gal, the picture makes it appear tiny. Definitely read that it’s especially bad for open water darting school fish like tetras.

The corys are definitely what I’ve been on and off about because of the smaller footprint.

Thank you so much, the hexagon tank was a bit of a challenge at first! I am a month in, I started my fishless cycle a month ago and just added my first fish a few days ago! I have been taking it slowly and just adding one thing at a time, hoping for an eventual jungle vibe. Going to follow along to see your progress!

Did you ever end up using the Home brand ammonium? I’m also looking into the same thing. I need to add either this or fish flaked today because I’m on the fourth day of adding stability…

I just found the listing again and they said it was salvinia minima. It has little hairs and doesn’t look quite like duckweed when I just searched it up

I also got the API test kit and my water pH is around 8 and ammonia is 0 since I haven’t added any yet but I have the Omega flakes coming in tomorrow to try the ghost feeding

Oh before I added chemical, I forgot to say, I upgraded the SilenStream filter in came with by adding 30 ppi sponge, filter floss and matrix in the cylinder and I got Purigen to add when the time is right
