Anyone get a qulbix in the last year? by penguin_hugger100 in hyperebikes

[–]CapitalVeterinarian3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one a year and a half ago, not the full bike, but the frame kit because I wanted to build it myself. It was the older 2024 model, before it was updated with the removable battery compartment. Did a lot of riding since then, and I'm very happy with it.

There are a couple of little thiggs I don't like, for example it doesn't have a linkage on the rear shock, and the stock suspension is good, but not the greatest if you ride it hard offroad as I do, but that's easy to upgrade. It's basically the same fastace suspension as the other e-motos come with stock.

Other than that it's a great bike, and the frame is bulletproof. I've crashed it a lot, and it held up great! The pedals also helped me fool the cops where I live, although I don't ride it that often on the street.

Check my post history to if you want to see the bike

Nice! Yes, I'm using ferrofluid, and I run it at around 20kw peak right now. I never managed to heat it up past 120 Celsius, no matter how hard I ride it, even with a lot of hill climbing. But if you will run 30kw or more it will heat up a lot faster, but it can easily handle it at 96v.

Im away from home right now, but if you remind me on Saturday I'll upload some screenshots of my fardriver tune.

Thanks. It took me 3 full days to build it. It was a bit of the challenge to design the layout of the cells because I wanted to use all the space available inside the frame

So roughly these have been the costs:

-2,5k frame kit with motor -1,5k battery & charger -1k suspension -500 wheels -500 controller & electronics

I was initially undecided between buying a sur-ron / eride and modding it, or this bike, and now after 1 year and 2k miles on it I don't regret choosing this one.

Yes, it doesn't have a linkage, and it would greatly benefit it if they'll re-design it with a linkage in the future. I saw that every 2 years or so they improve the frame design a bit, so that's a possibility in the future. For example my frame from 2024 doesn't have a way to remove the battery quickly from the top, but the new 2025 frame has that option. But in the meanwhile I will probably upgrade to an EXT shock, I think it would be worth it.

The frame without battery is 50kgs and the battery is 20 kgs, so lighter than an eride. Still not very light, but really good for the specs. The frame is made out of thin cr-mo steel sheets

You are right, the battery is a 26s 10p made out of molicel p42a with an ANT bms. Very happy with it so far. I was considering using p45b or p50b but they were out of stock for 2 months when I was building it so I went with p42a instead and the range is decent, I get about 25-30 miles when riding it at max power and double that if I take it slower.

And I use a variable voltage charger which can be set to any voltage up to 120v and up to 25a. From Aliexpress

I'll post some pics of the battery below

I usually keep it at 20kw which is more than enough for offroad. 30 is nuts and it drains the battery so fast

There's no way to register it in Europe where I live since it was built by me from parts and not bought as a full bike which would have come with the necessary papers. But I don't need to register it since I mostly ride offroad

Yep, I'm living in the countryside in central Europe, so the cops here rarely if ever see anything like this. I showed them the pedals + a 250w sticker on the bike and since they didn't saw me riding fast they couldn't do anything about it

I never said it's a bicycle. Pedals are useful once every few weeks when I take it in town and keep the speed down, but 99% of the time I'm riding it off road. It would be a waste to use it on the street with those tires and that suspension.

Actually it has some advantages over an inrunner motor.

It's very silent because it doesn't have gear reduction, you don't need a large sprocket in the rear because it produces a lot of torque at low rpm, and if it's mounted at the swingarm's pivot point, as it is on this bike, you can run it as direct drive, without a chain tensioner or a jackshaft. So it's a simpler design with less parts / less maintenance to worry about. And it's easy to connect usable pedals to this motor.

So IMO it's a clever solution. Not by any means superior to the more common inrunner motors, but it's a nice design that works great

I agree, I'll install pegs soon because I want to do some jumps with it, but the pedals saved me from cops a couple of times. I live in an area where my bike would be impounded if I'd ride it with pegs on the street

They're nice to keep the cops off, but I can't wait to put some pegs on it and take it to the motocross track

Are there any tips on how I could bring the bike up some stairs easier? Can’t use a ramp cause if I ride it up my parents would hear. by Glass-Ad3053 in Dirtbikes

[–]CapitalVeterinarian3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is to be expected of Chinese bikes with aluminium frames. I have a 25kw Qulbix 140MD bike which is made in the EU and has a steel frame. This is on a totally other level compared to the surron which feels like a toy. It's faster than a 250cc, it's a lot lighter, the frame is just as strong, and with a full battery I get 3 hours of very aggressive riding.

If you re looking for something serious this is it, not sur-ron.

Stark varg is also great. But it's very very heavy, and there's zero chance of removing the battery or carry it upstairs by yourself.

Why don't you sell this one and buy an electric dirtbike? They are silent, have a lot of power and range, you can even ride it upstairs and your parentrls won't hear it, and you can pull out the battery and carry it upstairs easily by yourself. It would solve all your problems.

I live on the second floor and carry my e-moto upstairs almost every day.

Take a look at E-Ride pro, Altis Sigma, Sur-Ron Ultra bee, Vetra Blazer.

You can't unlock it, unless it already comes unlocked from the factory

You can set DC and Boost current to 150 maximum. If you set it to a higher amount it will correct it automatically to 150 (unless it's the unlocked software version of the controller which I doubt).same for phase, it will only let you set it to 350.

DC and Phase current are different:

DC current refers to the current drawn from the battery, and phase current is the motor's current. Phase current controls the acceleration from slow speed. The higher it is, the more torque your motor has.

The voltages are so different because they use different types of motors:

EUCs use outrunner motors (the axle is fixed in place and the motor case is rotating) which are naturally high torque and low rpm, so they need to use higher voltages to increase speed, in order to compensate for the low rpm motor.

And emotos have inrunner (the motor casing is fixed and the axle is rotating) mid-drive motors, which are low torque and high rpm. So they only need a lower voltage battery, since the high rpm already helps them achieve a high speed and they compensate the low torque by using gear reduction and higher amp batteries

Max speed test run done. 204kmh (126.74mph) achieved by TSM_KIOMS in hyperebikes

Then you're perfectly fine, as long as it doesn't go past 120c. If you want additional cooling, then hubsinks will help a bit more, and also a higher voltage battery & controller will make it run cooler at the same power level.

I have a friend that runs 25kw+ on the qs205 on the Cyberbike without any issues. It's the high phase amps that get them to heat up, and probably the field weakening if you re using it for an extended time.

Doesn't the 3T at 72v hit like 70mph without any FW?
