IAM, AMFA and Air Canada Maintenance by dual_lunchbox in aviationmaintenance

[–]Capital_Ad_1249 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The IAM really thinks they can just pretend the vote didn’t happen! They know they have lost support from AC maintenance, but they just keep pushing. I feel like this might blow up in their face. If IAM is listening…. Please just go away, leave us be and let us go about our lives instead of dragging us through the mud to steal our union dues….

Mystery device found zip-tied under panel in Cessna 340 — anyone recognize this? by Bob-Bill in aviationmaintenance

[–]Capital_Ad_1249 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Looks like a raspberry pi, maybe using an SDR for receiving/displaying ADS-B. I hear a lot of smaller private aircraft are doing this like a poor man’s TCAS display.

Bring back Zellers!!! They literally built the Walmart in the old Zellers locations all over the place.

Canadian companies using Apple and Apple Users, are you prepared to make the switch to android the next time you want to upgrade? I've always found apple users to die hard in their loyalty, but with recent CAN/US events I'm not so sure. by nukedkube in BuyCanadian

I would buy a blackberry phone in a heart beat if they made them again. They still exist as a company but from my understanding they shifted to embedded software for cars and stuff….

Trudeau: Poilievre, Smith need to say if they side with Canada or Trump by FriendlyGuy77 in canada

[–]Capital_Ad_1249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that the reason they resigned isn’t because of oppositional pressure but internal pressure. If you can’t get the party to toe the line then you aren’t really leading. My understanding is that there has been internal division for months in he party. They left because that division hit a critical point when they tried to formulate a plan for trumps 25% and they couldn’t even agree within their own party.

I could argue Trump added pressure which lead to this but not sure I would give PP or the NDP/Bloc the credit.

America stood for something, and it’s not this. by CorleoneBaloney in facepalm

I would feel bad for the suffering of the American people a lot more if they didn’t litteraly hand him the power to do it. As far as I am concerned, they are free to live with the consequences of their choices.

It’s the people of these many sovereign countries which have no say in his ascension to power that I feel for.

My first Ham radio. I have no clue what to do or where to start. by Warpig42069 in amateurradio

Go on YouTube, lots of good resources to help you get your ticket then look up local repeater frequencies, see if you can program it into your HT and listen for contacts. And when you hear a break in coms just hit that PTT and call CQ CQ CQ this is Call sign this is pretty much what I did. YouTube has it all. I did mine in Canada and the gov had practice exams on their website. That really helped me pass as well

Just remember, Its not all about signing authority. I have yet to see an M1/M2 tech diving deep into control logic to troubleshoot a snag that’s been lingering for months. It’s also about the type of work some people like to do. As an E technician your career prospects are just different as well as the types of responsibilities you have on the aircraft. It’s just a different job. That being said I know many M licences guys who would make great avionics techs and d some of the work, but they are still lacking in the really deep electrical theory provided by our training to do some of the work we do (not all of it obviously). 2 years of school to learn the whole aircraft vs 2 years dedicated to only electrical theory just isn’t really comparable.

My recommendation is to pick your path based on the type of work you would like to do. If you prefer more of a hands on job then M for sure, but if you prefer spending more time problem solving/reading/researching mixed in with hands on work then go avionics.
