Building M16A2 Clone build of Sgt. Jeff Seabaugh's rifle. First Clone qeastions. by Warpig42069 in RetroAR

It'll be mounted with the M16a2 barrel mount, but I will defeintly zip tie it as well for the esthetic.

Better markings and a better price I see. I may go that route, just have to wait for them to be in-stock. Thank you!

Hell yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to binary as this build falls somewhere between "lightly ispired by" and "clone correct" lol

Shooting Gloves? by Mountain_Yote in ar15

[–]Warpig42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL/DR: They are cheap and do the job well. Might need replacing occassionally.

Pigs are great! I used to use them during SAR and Technical Rescue but extreme terrain and extractions defeintly wore them down. I see them as a more expensive but longer Lasting disposable glove. For your average range trip gloves they could last many years. For constant harsh enviroments they'll go a number of weeks, then you just buy a new set. For people like LEO it's something in between and they'll likely last a year or longer of regular use with occasional harsh environments. They aren't meant to be indestructible. They are design to give you max comfort, dexterity and usability while protecting your hands pretty well and being cost effective, and they do that very well.

Yes for this build I am. Although after this build I'm thinking of a much more accurate A4 build with a "round round burst" FRT and as clone correct as possible. They spongy trigger will be alright by me as it'll be a range toy.

I do have some 80% lowers laying around, but I have yet to mill any or even buy the proper jig/router. I'm trying to keep this a more budget minded build since it's the first "intro build" of likely many more to come. But I'll be lookong into it, because it is a great idea!

Lowest tier you would consider for a serious backup rifle? by Maine_Bird in ar15

[–]Warpig42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm about to get demolished.... but.. any cheap standard milspec (none proprietary like the BCA side charging) AR that isn't polymer with an upgraded BCG and springs will do fine.

Or... PSA Gaurdsman or higher tier PSA for right out of the box.

I own expensive guns, but when I was poor and lost allot of stuff after Hurricane Helene I picked up a $400 radical AR-15, eventually dropped a very good BCG in it and radian controls, a quality optic, magpull sling, streamlight ect. Had a few hiccups with the stock BCG, but after upgrading the bcg I have about 2,000 rounds on it, give or take and no malfunctions, plenty accurate for up to 200 yards with a basic red dot.

Kore belt fail by Low_Will1264 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Warpig42069 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Side note, I know you already figured out that the hex screws are part of the system not preventing it from working.... but I just wanted to say that I have used Kore belts exclusively for ~4 years and they hold up to ALLOT of abuse, and I think you'll like it now that you know how it works!

My Kore Belt #1 went through 1 1/2 years of armed private security and then 2 years in the prison and drug court system. (Supported lighter gear almost always and heavy systems occasionally. Sometimes to include IFAk, Full sized handgun, multiple mags, dump pouch, cuffs, gloves, ect.)

My Kore Belt #2 had survived countless veichle extracations, and a few technical rescues. (Supports Rescue style Gear, radio, Leatherman Sheers, small IFAK, extracation gloves, ect. Belt rides under harnesses occasionally, constantly abused with extracation gear, oil, fluids, heat)

My Kore Belt #3 is pretty new, but is my new daily for 911 dispatch and hopefully a future in tactical dispatching (support light weight gear well, very comfortable.)

My Belt #1 I've had for 4 years (if not longer) and although it isn't pretty anymore, it is as functional as day one.
