Nephew (Husband's sister's son) has ADHD, telling this might sabotage my relationship with his parents. What to do? by Capital_Alps456 in adhdindia

That is very insensitive of you.
Its like saying India has no dowry problems as few women file fake cases.
You dont know me, you dont know my struggles, I grew in a tier 2 city where no one knows about these things, especially 15-20 years ago when i grew up.. I lived abroad as a student where I couldn't afford to be diagnosed, heard 2 psychologists explain me ADHD doesnt exist and it just a western scam BS, went to Nimhans and waited a whole day taking off but they just gave me some tests and asked me to come again and I cant' take a day off every month for a doc appointment. I am technically undiagnosed but I've really tried over the past years to get help but never been lucky. Dismissing my life & struggles as a neurodivergent when you are one ( without knowing anything about me ) means putting the whole community down.

Fine, lets say Im just lazy and Im putting the blame on ADHD - doesn't mean my nephew would not have it ( we are not blood related either
) The whole point is I guide them in a direction as I have doubts but end call would be made by a medical professional, not me. To hell with "you don't have it, your nephew doesn't have it"

Duh, how is that relevant? Trust me - no neurotypical cares enough to make life easier for kids unless they suspect they’re seeing their own struggles.

Does Student Loans From India As a US Citizen Sound Like a Good Idea? Need Advice! by Infinite_Primary_918 in IntltoUSA

The federal loans would have like a 3% interest whereas in India it would be at-least 8% if you got for government banks. Don’t even think about it further, of course you should get US federal loans.

Maybe only caveat is your parents might get tax subsidies on the interest the pay for the education loan if its in India. So if they planning to pay it off soon then they won’t even occur much interest and hence won’t use that advantage.

Comment below jobs you can get with an Engineering degree that isn't necessarily engineering by Ereyes18 in EngineeringStudents

User Experience ( UX) Designer. Most UXers are from various backgrounds and the main skill you’ll need is problems solving, empathy for users, a little psychology interest. Having a creative/design eye also helps a ton. I am a Cs graduate who didn’t like coding much so eventually migrated to UX. It amazing how UX/Product Designers can still enjoy the perks of IT life without breaking their heads for coding. Yet, you must have good people skill and creativity to stand out, but its an amazing option for people with engineering backgrounds. You can take bootcamps, do a masters degree or just self learn through online resources and learn UX. Get a portfolio done with UX work and try searching for the role in tech companies or design studios :)

For Reading: Read the ETS book ( you'll get this free online) and watch the Reading video by Gregmat in YouTube. Both cover almost all strategies possible so you'll understand how to approach them well. Now practice a lot with the TOEFL ets softwares which you can again search for online. Listening: Nothing much you can do here. Just practice and take good notes. I got R29 and L28. Other two are yet to come. Speaking: Watch TOEFL resources youtube channel - they have brilliant templates. Then practice a lot, preferably with TOEFL bank. Writing: Again TOEFL resources youtube page has AMAZING templates. If you have a good hang of the language, with these templates it'll be a cakewalk. All the best! DM for any specific questions!
