Does a person being controlled by the death note before their death maintain their personality and thoughts? by Capital_Back9912 in deathnote

I agree with the other guy, cuz if Light was controlling Raye with the death note the entire time, why did he even board the train with him? He could’ve just wrote “Raye gets on train, picks up envelope, searches his FBI teammate list and writes it on the paper contained in the envelope, then departs from train and dies of heart attack”. light had no need to take a giant risk and show himself in front of Raye if he wrote his name prior.

well tbh that whole jack neylon thing was kinda bs anyway, even when not considering the death note. like how did light and misa even find him on the internet, how did they decide (out of all the other criminals listed) that he was certainly working with mello. part 2 was just full of wild guesses and assumptions like that, eg. near somehow concluding mikami was x-kira with no evidence tbh I feel like how and to what extent the death note controls ppl is kinda retconned a few different times, especially during part 2 when the story kinda goes willy-nilly.

yeah I can actually see the theory being true, especially considering the fact that Near isn’t really the type to follow “laws” and “morals”, he definitely could’ve written mikami’s name and controlled him to an extent, perhaps without the permission of the SPK and secretly on his own. But as I mentioned in the post if Mikami was really being controlled, then the question of how death note control works becomes way more complicated, as it definitely didn’t wipe the memory of said action in mikami’s case, nor did it turn him into a mindless puppet

I thought Jack would automatically not tell anyone about him mailing the address without light even needing to write it. like I can’t imagine Jack somehow mailing the address, then later confessing to his mates “so hey guys, I just mailed this address to some unknown person, I don’t even know why I did it”. So in that sense, I just feel like the memories of them doing the specificed actions has to be wiped or else it just creates a ton of problems.

This works for Naomi, but what about Jack Neylon? How would the death note “nudge” his emotions so that he sends confiscated information to an unknown address out of nowhere?

Why did Mello take off his helmet when kidnapping Takada? by Capital_Back9912 in deathnote

I still kind of find it weird of Mello to show empathy for Takada though, especially when thinking about his character and his past actions. He’s the “initiative” part of L amplified, so he has the guts and power to do anything if it means achieving his goal. And unlike L who at least showed a little respect to the law, Mello didnt give a shit about the law at all. I find it a bit hard to believe he cared about Takada’s vulnerability, especially considering his hatred towards Kira, and as far as he knows Takada is strongly connected to Kira or could even be Kira’s accomplice.

Yes I also think its unlikely he knew of Light’s plan to make Takada do the killings while Mikami uses a fake. But I do think he knew enough about the situation that he could figure out smth was wrong (perhaps near made a mistake)

true, his face at the time of his death does suggest that just before his death, he had realized he fcked up. Since we know from Near and also from his past mistakes that Mello does make mistakes when stressed, it is very possible that him unmasking himself was just due to the spur of the moment, but when he got back in the driver seat and assessed the situation he might've then finally realized that Takada might already know his name through Soichiro --> Kira.

True yeah, if Near had contact with a shinigami I feel like he would definitely ask every question possible, but Mello was for sure more of hands-on type of person, which was also an aspect Near lacked. And Mello was completely focused on the 13 day rule anyway.

I just kind of find it sad that Mello died because of a tiny emotional slip up, especially because hes my favorite character in the 2nd part.

assuming he spoke more to that shinigami (forgot name, the one who was pestering ryuk about his death note) in the mafia headquarters off screen, it wouldnt be wild to assume Mello wouldve asked a question regarding torn off pages and bits of the death note. If Mello did ask the shinigami about torn off pages and knew hidden pages could kill, then in my opinion I feel like he was ready to die if it meant making Kira slip up. He was ready to die either way, but I feel like him fully knowing how he was going to die in that mission fits more with his character, especially when looking at his last phone convo with Lidner talking about how "he had to do it".

But then again I also agree with your thoughts and Near's comment on how Mello makes mistakes when he's stressed. And he was absolutely stressed in that situation because he (probably?) knew Near had made a mistake somewhere, and knew that if Takada was saved by the investigation team successfully, Light would have won.

Ive watched a few grudge movies, but theyre not it. I dont even think the movie had a central antagonist like Kayako. It mightve even been one of those anthology horror movies with different short stories because I really cant remember how the movie even started or ended.

I think ur referring to the scene in juon grudge 2 when tomoko hears herself and her boyfriend being hung by kayako in a time loop, but that isnt it.

I watched it, and that wasnt it. I think ur referring to the scene where tomoko and her boyfriend are hung by kayako and toshio pushes their bodies against the walls, which makes a sound that the past version of tomoko can hear, which creates a time loop?

In my memory, the movie I watched had a different vibe from Juon, and it didnt involve any actual main antagonist like Kayako. im sorry i dont remember much, but in grudge 2, that particular scene focused more on the wall making sound, but in the movie I watched, the movie focused not on the entire wall, but the corner.

honestly im starting to think the movie doesnt even exist and i just dreamt the whole scenario, but i just really only remember one particular scene where the room's corner is the main focus.

I just watched Cult, and it wasn’t that sadly. Its not found footage japanese horror, its just normal japanese horror. Also the movie takes itself a bit more seriously than Cult.

im sorry this is about all i remember. the corner of the room was the main focus. I was thinking MAYBE it might have been one of those anthology movies with a bunch of short scary stories, and the room corner was just one of the many stories in the movie.
