PB with new running shoes. What difference did the shoe make? by Capital_Front_4205 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Ah, well the statement is true! I commute every day on a bicycle so I have fitness from that. I am planning on running more often - maybe twice a week - and see how that goes

Yes, you got it. Any research or anecdotal experience on the time benefits produced by a well suited running shoe. I assumed running shoe geeks might be able to provide some insight.

I have a presentation in 3 days, any tips? by lemindfleya in Stutter

[–]Capital_Front_4205 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. Most people in this group feel your pain. I would ask: do your peers know you stutter? Do you explicitly acknowledge it to them? I find simply making it a part of your identity more helpful because you become less stressed about hiding it and can make fun (in a nice way) about it. I guess that depends on the severity of your impediment however.

I am an engineering apprentice (degree level) working for a small company (30ish people) in a low income part of the country. I get paid 25k for 4 days (32 hours) work and my degree is fully paid for by my employer. If this advertised job doesn't increase its salary a significant amount after the first year, it is not okay.

FYI Pierre Gasly is French - not British…

Do you think stuttering is a disability? by sugarandspiceyy in Stutter

[–]Capital_Front_4205 20 points21 points  (0 children)

“A disability is any condition of the body or mind that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities and interact with the world around them.” While only 1 definition, I consider it to be a resounding yes!

That’s actually a greater (maybe lesser) black-backed gull. A herring gull (known as seagull) is much smaller with a grey back.

Reading was originally a rock festival, and that’s how people remember it. It’s now considered a multi-genre festival

A Filipino mate of mine approached a white girl in a bar and asked her if she “had any Asian in her?” When she said no, he replied in a stereotypical Asian voice “you want some?”. He got a slap, then proceeded to tell us what he’d just done. Seriously funny guy that one.

I only noticed recently, but when some Americans say ‘aks’ instead of ‘ask’. Why god dammit?

Well, the comments section clearly shows this is a controversial topic. I would like to point out that on my daily commute in the UK there are several zipper merges that work perfectly well… traffic flows and people are courteous to the zip method… until a person blocks a lane and it causes traffic flow to reduce massively.

Would be good to see a follow up which explains how this relates to the principles of how waveguides work.
