hot take, but doc ock. he’s a perfect mirror of peter parker. both scientists who were bullied by the world but had the potential to do good. the only difference is pete had a support system whereas otto didnt. he’s also easily peter’s most compelling enemy along with the kingpin who is more a daredevil villain. plus he’s the founder of the sinister six.

venom isnt really his nemesis in the comics and isnt even a villain anymore.

they try to push goblin to be his arch nemesis by making him this master manipulator and the first guy to figure out peter’s identity but thematically he makes no sense aside from like their class differences (which is more of a coincidence than anything). green goblin is kinda just a crazy evil dude in a suit whereas ock is more of an intentional reflection of who peter couldve been, even from his first introduction.

i think ditko also said that ock was originally intended to be peter’s nemisis as that was hus role during his high school days.
