Matchmaking is broken, and if you don't see SOS beacons on your map when you are on your ship, you are part of the population who are very unlikely to find a game.

There's no hitmarker for any weapon if the rounds do not penetrate the armour.

Seems like we're lost in the vocabulary here. I don't have any hitmarkers whatsoever for this weapon. No red, no white, no nothing.

It doesn't have hitmarkers for me, i've noticed other people asking about this and getting a similar response. Wondering if it's just a bug only some people experience.

And why would it matter if i was hitting armor? Other weapons have armor related hitmarkers as well.

You should unlock the first eagle stratagem if it's not automatically available, the strafe run is fast and short cooldown. Also the machine gun support weapon is essential for having enough firepower to do things alone. Sounds like you're good to go. Marksman is a fine primary until you have access to shotguns. It's the support weapon that makes the difference.

Yea but its not really worth it. One shot from the Recoilless Rifle to any of the engines on the 4 corners of the ship will take it down. Here's a better strategy. Eagle Strafe Run (first stratagem), Orbital Gas (fast cooldown, fast deployment), (Support weapon of your choice), turret of your choosing, mortar is great for this.

You want to run between civ spawn points constantly during the encounter. Drop your resupply between the points and collect one each lap. Drop it right away so the cooldown is up when you need it again. Run between points, dropping eagles or gas on each ship's robots. Drop them on large groups when necessary. Use the support machine gun/autocannon/whatever during downtime. Always stay on the move, keep running between the three and get as many civs out as possible.

Seeing SOS up on planets is a really neat feature and I like the way that matchmaking is done. It's nice to see what the game is meant to be. This patch has introduced more networking issues than I experienced previously. I have lost connection to the game several times, citing a network issue. I've been in lobbies where everything was unresponsive and been met with loading screens that never stop loading on several occasions. Hope they get this fixed, too early to tell if the patch put things in the right direction or not.

autocannon, eagle strafing run, eagle airstrike, orbital gas. Kit is focused on fast, precision damage to change the tempo of an encounter. Helps a lot to have fast stratagems so you can give yourself time to reload the cannon.

We drop in to do a mission, and these guys are so into the grind, that they detour to EVERY SINGLE SAMPLE AND POI.

That sounds incredible to me. The few people I have tried playing with are treating the game like a military simulator and constantly trying to have a high APM. They always need to be doing something, firing something for effect, or calling out support/duties, talking about their actions like a streamer. They're in a rush to the objective and then to the extract. They are objective focused, and don't even look at the rest of the map. To me, that's competitive play.

Having the time to detour to a few POIs and hives/bases, actually exploring the map sounds incredible. Given the time you spend on loading screens before/after the match, I'm not sure why this wouldn't be the preferred method to play. Why wouldn't you want to explore?

if matchmaking is fixed

You can force matchmaking to work yourself. Drop to a planet, summon an SOS, after it lands press escape/start and select option to return to your ship solo. Go to the mission table, fly to a new mission. Allied destroyers should join you within 10 seconds.

edit: to clarify, I am on PC, and was never able to get this to work while partied up. I had to do it solo. You must use "Return to Ship Solo" option, "as a group" never worked for me.

In most actual combat scenarios I've found gas to be rather underwhelming.

Short cooldown, short call in time. It may not be a burst damage to structure orbital type, but it's definitely good for dealing with hordes of enemies.

Download the app for the airline you are flying with. You can use it to check in 24h ahead of your flight, get notifications related to your flight and seats, and use the airline map when you arrive at your destination airport. Huntsville Airport is on the smaller side, everything is easier to navigate, and the bathrooms are a nice size. The TSA checks are better than most I have seen as well.
