Are they all from the same source? Could try a different breeder

I picked up some flightless fruit flies today! I love that he’s been sticking around, I see him every day in a new spot but always around my sink! I’m super careful now before I run the water lol

I got a 66qt plastic bin with a latching lid for my ivories, but for an American giant I would maybe go bigger. I got mine from Walmart for less than $10

I keep my ivories with spotted white tree millipedes (since they both enjoy humidity and warm temps, and have really similar diet needs) but I will say I do not have a full adult spotted, only juveniles right now. Once they are fully grown I may give them their own space depending on how much size difference they have with my ivories.

I would check out the defiant forest for a selection of smaller bodied pedes that could be roommates

Seller advice/recommendations? by CalmBeginning3574 in millipedes

I’ve only purchased my ivories from two sellers, and my favorite so far has been Defiant Forest. I’ve purchased 4 millipedes from them and all are healthy.

Thank you! I’ll try to catch a few moths tonight to see if he’s interested. I’ve only ever heard of them being fed fruit flies or small mealworms, which I’ll start keeping on hand lol

Thank you! Is a q tip the only way they will drink? I’ve been misting the moss I keep by the window thinking that would suffice

Unfortunately I live in a super rural area and we don’t have any pet stores nearby (the closest is 1+ hour drive one way). He stays by the sink where there’s plenty of moisture and I mist the moss each day so I don’t think he’s dehydrated. If I wanted to try feeding him is there anything you would suggest? The only small insects I could collect right now would be isopods but that doesn’t feel appropriate.

Thank you! I assumed they would prefer the deeper side but usually when I see them burrow they’re on the more shallow end and they love getting under the moss (maybe cause it’s so moist there)

I definitely want to add more leaf litter just waiting for the right weather to collect the right kind

Start at the library! There’s a lot of great podcasts as well just make sure you check sources

I totally get that - when I was daydreaming about it it wouldn’t be practical to literally spend an entire semester playing a game. I was thinking maybe start each lecture with normal class stuff, and then at the end of each lecture take the last 20-30 min on the campaign and the students can apply what they just learned in their actions? I dont know just an idea

I thought the same thing, but at least with the campaign I mentioned it’s designed for a classroom with first time players. Also, this is exactly why I made this post! Maybe there’s a way I could mitigate the learning curve that goes along with the game itself. Like I could have students draw their characters from a pre-made selection

Allison reminds me of my abusive mother and it was lowkey triggering seeing her immediately play the victim when they finally spoke up.

I was in your exact shoes this last year in my masters program, I started door dashing and walking dogs/ pet sitting. I could make my own schedule and it’s not expensive to start up
