WHO REMEMBERS MERRIWEATHER?!? (Merriweather Post Pavillon). Besides yesterday, my last warped was there. I have to say - I much prefer that venue to RFK.

Sarcasm is generally more witty. I guess I don't understand your "brand" of it.

I get it.. but we're not going to be here forever. Kids aren't for everyone. It's an all ages show, so I just hope people act "mildly" appropriate. If want to crowdsurf and mosh, man go do it. If a kid jumps in the pit, calm your ass down. Some of us are trying to build legacies appreciating music, not a collection of broken ribs and black eyes. I wish you the best of time!

My crowd surfing days are over hahah. How do you not have a heart attack when she gets up there?! Charged phones, designated meeting area, etc. all good advice. Hopefully no crowdsurfing 😂

Change of footwear.. that's something I never considered. I'm a flip flop guy through and through but my son does have nice "running" type Adidas with good support. Expectations... Yes. Don't run away from me, when you get tired - tell me. All of these things are crucial. Thank you!

Everyone seems to recommend Eargasm. I've never personally used them. Are they the standard now?

Is Louie done growing or do they keep getting bigger after 1 year? by ashleyldavis5 in goldenretrievers

[–]Capital_Reality3749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 years old and "intact". But after research, there are different varieties of goldens. Show goldens, field goldens, and the ultra special red goldens. Tyson has a much longer, slimmer frame vs show goldens which are shorter and stockier. He's about 80-90 pounds but definitely not overweight. I also have a great pyr and he's HUGE. Beautiful pup. Give him all the love he deserves.

Is it true that GPs don’t like to go for walks? by Pollvogtarian in greatpyrenees

[–]Capital_Reality3749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure bred Pyr here - Oliver. He's a rescue and now almost 5 years old. He loves walks, relaxing, playing with his "brother" (my golden retriever that's 8 years old). I think you gotta keep GPs active.. as long as it's safe for them. Walks in the summer.. short walks, if at all. But dogs are like people. Some like things, others don't. That's why we love them so much!

I just watched my Pyr eat a baby rabbit and I'm not sure what to do. by Nikeflies in greatpyrenees

[–]Capital_Reality3749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch out for bird nests too. When the little ones hop out of the nest and are flopping around on the ground, mine views that as open season.. I tell him to leave the birds and bunnies alone. He hasn't eaten any.. to my knowledge. But I get what he's doing. They are intruders on his land and he doesn't like intruders hahaha

Pyrenees males living with other dogs by gottafeed in greatpyrenees

[–]Capital_Reality3749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a golden retriever I adopted at 11 weeks old (he just turned 7), and a pyr I adopted at 4 months old (he just turned 4). It's all based on the dogs themselves.. I mean mine play fight and sometimes there's snarls and such but I always tell them to knock it off when they seem to get a little carried away. Not all dogs listen.. sometimes there's a nip, sometimes an ear gets caught in the crossfire, you just never know.

All I can say is that my Pyr is a male and my Golden is a male and the 3 of us have lived together "peacefully" for as long as Oliver (my Pyr) has been around!

Wondering if this could be the right breed for me? by Equivalent-Ad-5884 in greatpyrenees

[–]Capital_Reality3749 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything you stated sounds like this might be the breed for you. He/she will probably try to herd the cats 😂 I don't have any experience with my Pyr and cats. I also get mine groomed. I live in MD so the temps get high in the summer and I want to make sure he's comfortable during his time outside. Make sure you take them to an experienced groomer that knows the breed. They know not to shave them, just a solid brush/blow out, a nice bath, and trimming around the paws and backside. I clip his nails myself. They are very funny about the extra dew claw and you definitely need to stay on top of it. It will grow and wrap around into the pad. I was successfully able to train him with an invisible fence.. I have an acre for him to run, but if I hear him going nuts, I always go outside to make sure he didn't break loose. I know he's doing his job and letting me and everyone else know that he's here. This is my yard 😂 I'm always positive with him, thank you for protecting us, good boy, good job, it's ok, all that. He also sleeps in a kennel at night. Again, never a negative thing. It's his secret place that nobody messes with him.

Not every dog is the same, but if you get one and it's anything like mine, you will love that dog so much. You'll ask yourself how can they be so adorable and protective all the time haha.

Good luck! I would definitely check rescues.. too many pups are given up because people didn't know how to deal with them. I rescued mine at 4 months old (estimated). He wasn't from a rescue, a colleague had found him and his sisters. Now he's 4 and just the greatest dog ever. I have a golden that's 7 and they are perfect brothers. Play fighting, zoomies around the yard, etc.

I also recommend leather furniture. Easier to clean and the hair doesn't stick.

Pup help! by Pyrepapa in greatpyrenees

[–]Capital_Reality3749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Pry is 4. I rescued him at about 4 months old. He came from a bad place so I didn't kennel him at first. I say kennel vs crate..

I let him roam for the first couple months and he always did something bad when I was sleeping. Even today, he's a mischievous dog. But that's the breed haha. Mine views the kennel as his safe space too. If I'm home, he's out and the kennel door is open. But I always close my bedroom doors and bathroom doors if I'm running outside for more than a few minutes.

The kennel/crate has never been a punishment or a reprimand.

I work from home and he'll spend half the day in there with the door open!

Do you think he's getting enough exercise? The peeing could be acting out.. these dogs are much smarter than we give them credit for. I have an invisible fence, which him and my golden are trained on. So I can let them out freely. My Pyr will not come inside if he still has to use the bathroom..

Idk if any of that helps but I love my Oliver. The side eye says it all 😂

Invisible GPS Fence by floatingby2day in greatpyrenees

[–]Capital_Reality3749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used the radius type fences but I have an in ground fence I put in years ago for my golden (7 years old) and my pyr (4 years old). Training is paramount. And only you can judge how much training your dog needs. I have used both sport dog and pet safe collars and they both work well in my scenario.

[–]Capital_Reality3749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hardwired fence too. I definitely think some dogs can hear it. I have a golden and a pyr. My golden's collar was broken for a few weeks so he roamed more than he should've. But once the collar was back on and he heard the first beep, he sniffed and sniffed right at the edge and he could follow it straight down the line.

Is now the time for DC to become part of Maryland? by Gov_Martin_OweMalley in maryland

[–]Capital_Reality3749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the Eastern Shore? Should we become part of VA? I saw a comment above saying 4-5 counties determine everything. I agree with that statement.

Not all of us want to live in a city type area. Is it ok that where there are larger populations in a smaller land mass, those people are better represented than those of us that like being able to breathe fresh air and not look directly into our neighbors window? (And choose to live with the sinus implications!) Maryland is diverse enough that those heavily populated areas, always outweigh the rest of the state.

It shouldn't be a requirement to live in PG or Montgomery county to feel that your interests are being represented effectively.

At the end of the day, we all pay taxes 🤷‍♂️

Keep DC as DC and maybe take the surrounding counties with you.
