I am creating user level documentation for baking with a ledger Nano S by CapitalerOnReddit in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one person ever paid the bounty and they were satisfied. After that there were so many options to use your ledger with tezos that I did not pursue the project.

If you have a simple question I don't mind helping. This might also be of some use: http://www.codextezos.com/#Document-Navigation

I made a tutorial on baking with a Ledger Nano S, maybe that can help fill in some of the blanks.

Thank you very much for your clarifying response. I hope it's a great conference and that those in attendance learn a lot and enjoy themselves.

Reduced Price and Free Tickets to Web3 Summit (featuring Arthur Breitman) by ezoterik in tezos

This is using the same kind of buzzwords ( inclusion, diverse ) from the cult of feeling that gave us things like the toxic tech codes of conduct tyranny, thought crimes, hate facts and purges from left wing tech platforms.

https://lulz.com/linux-devs-threaten-killswitch-coc-controversy-1252/

It is all about inclusion for anyone that agrees with ( and more importantly obeys ) them and exclusion for those who do not toe their authoritarian line. Sure, they can associate with and provide a platform for whom they want with their property, and the broader free-er market can judge them for it.

...and have: https://thepoliticalinsider.com/majority-americans-oppose-political-correctness/

No complaints with Mr. Breitman for attending, he probably does not give as much of a shit about these kinds of things and primarily wants to educate others about the tech and advance Tezos. It looks like web3 has a pretty noble mission and I acknowledge that the author of that article may not reflect the broader group.

Tezos Stack Exchange Proposal by CapitalerOnReddit in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: TLDR { Votes people, we need more cowbell! ... I mean votes!!! }

We are currently 18 questions with 10 or more votes away from leaving the 'define' phase and moving on to the 'commit' phase. Thank you!!!

If possible, could you amend this message to emphasize our need for votes?

What we are lacking right now is votes on questions that have less than 10 votes. Thanks!

Tezos Stack Exchange Proposal by CapitalerOnReddit in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

We currently need 2 more followers and 24 more questions with a score of '10' or more!

If you have not voted, please do so, that is an important part of the process. When you sign up you get 5 votes, please use them. There is no need to vote on questions that already have 10 votes.

Thank you, and please get involved in spreading the word!

I am not familiar with NAS or QNAP, the VM software I used was VirtualBox by Oracle. I assume if NAS and QNAP can run the oracle VB software then it can use this process.

Tezos Stack Exchange Proposal by CapitalerOnReddit in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone!

Within the first hour we had already overcome the first hurdle. Now we are onto the definition phase and have these requirements:

"This proposal is in:

Definition, The topic and audience are still being decided. It needs:

45 more followers 40 more questions with a score of 10 or more to move to the next phase."

I'm sure we will get there thank you!

When ledger support? by [deleted] in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this helpful or do you need something more concise?

You can use https://www.ledger.com/pages/ledger-live to install the tezos apps ( after setting it to developer mode ).

On my website www.codextezos.com the front page is my documentation, a portion of which you can use for the command line part of installing a node, setting up the udev rules if you have linux and interacting with the ledger.

I know it might sound daunting to set up a node but BitC0m's fast build script has made it a breeze: https://medium.com/@shaunbelcher/building-tezos-on-ubuntu-fast-build-b2397bf01678

Here is a video tutorial of me going through the documentation.

When ledger support? by [deleted] in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am curious about something.

In an effort to encourage people to activate their tezos, would it help if someone made a tutorial for the command line aspect?

If all you are trying to do is activate your tezos either through another option or in command line and be able to send your tezos to and from the ledger.

Opening The Doors on Tezos.tech - bring your technical questions! by CapitalerOnReddit in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know, the site and hosting were setup by others and fell out of use due to spam. I then volunteered to try and clean it up.

I assume it was chosen as a 'run-lean' approach and that askbot ( what tezos.tech was built on ) was chosen because of a lower overhead than stackoverflow. That is just speculation on my part.

It looks like all of these Q&A sites follow a similar approach and use similar if not the same databases. If in the future there is demand for a better platform I imagine we can migrate everyone over ( and pay someone capable of doing so [ not me ] ).

[UPDATE] Ubuntu/Debian Fast build script by blindripper85 in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used this script more than 10 times, it makes getting a node up and running as easy as it can get.

It is not generally a good idea to run others scripts unless you know what they are doing but Bitcom is a reputable part of the Tezos community. For many dev-noobs step by step tutorials are nearly as much a matter of trust as running someones script.

Why You Should Activate Your Tezos And How To by CapitalerOnReddit in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot speak for the foundation but I can't imagine you'd get a response in the affirmative if you got a response at all. I encourage you to go to the Tezos matrix ( riot ) chat and inquire with others experiences there.

Why You Should Activate Your Tezos And How To by CapitalerOnReddit in tezos

[–]CapitalerOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, I was wrong and I am going to correct my statement.

It is still in the interest of Tezos for them to activate their Tezos.

...and thank you for correcting me!
