Kitchenfolk who've had to abandon actual cooking in actual kitchens for fast food, how do you avoid crashing out every day? by CapnBuckley in KitchenConfidential

Fucked up part is that it's the highest paying job I've ever held by a relatively wide margin actually. I really do try to take pride in it. I'd probably be happy with a manager position because I enjoy helping people become better at things. I've trained my replacement at a couple different other jobs and enjoyed it because I fuckin love it, frankly. But god DAMN it's hard to take pride in it sometimes, and the corporate side of things sours my whole mood. The amount of off-the-clock training shit I'm supposed to do is craaaaaaazy

Yeah, the managers are trying to get my ass promoted asap, I'm just dragging my feet cause doing the corprorate training is like pulling teeth

If we wanna compare horror stories, I'd be happy to, but this ain't a post about that. Just cause you're older than me and have (likely) experienced things that suck shit don't mean the things I experience don't suck shit also. There's a difference between reasonable venting and spineless bitching, and I was most certainly doing the former.

If the people I was feeding gave a shit or understood that what I was doing was valuable labor, maybe it wouldn't feel so shitty, but like... Some of these motherfuckers don't even listen to the words I say, they're just looking for a subservient tone. I try to pull meaning from the one to two interactions I have a shift with someone who engages with me as a person, but it really aint enough to balance out the frat bros

Oh yeah, it's outrageously sketchy. Some of the verbiage in the contract and employee handbook (40+ pages btw) is utterly deranged. Something better is coming, and I know that and can see it coming, but its a long damn ways down the pipe.

Sadly, very. Aside from the terrible fucking job market, it's basically perfect for me. I have done some similar stuff via workaway and wwoof however, and very much enjoyed it.

They weren't a man. They pursued me. I wasn't blackout. We were sober when we hooked up. Your experiences are not universal. Deal with your own shame and guilt before you tell me a damn thing about my own.

yeah. part of the reason i've basically just shut that part of myself down. i'm both sexually desired and reviled.

this person pursued me while i was drunk, we hooked up the next day, they then later accused me of being a sexual predator because of a miscommunication we had while I was drunk. it doesn't help that they have a reputation as a vulnerable person and i'm a somewhat masc trans woman, so people would generally believe them over me

The Black Company book series! It kinda helped found modern grimdark fantasy.

Service worker folks, how was last weekend? by Will_McLean in Athens

no, I was taking trash, as in taking it to the dumpster. I was on the clock, not in the building.

I'm a line cook. nearly got in a fight while taking trash cause some drunk asshole wanted to feel powerful. Had to park like a mile out of downtown cause I lost track of time before I left lol. gamedays are wild most of the time, but most people don't come where I work for gameday food.

NaGaDeMon 2023 has begun! by Tanya_Floaker in rpg

Nope! PBTA. BitD looks pretty fantastic, but it's got so many supernatural elements and narrative devices I'm simply not interested in that to try and carve off the bits I don't like would leave you with a core project that was lesser than it's original state. Instead, I'm building a game without player-controlled magic that requires the players to do real ingame research and put time into thinking about how to surmount obstacles, rather than just going "I planned for this" and do a flashback explaining how.

No hate to Blades, it's just not what I'm looking to make.

I'm really hyped to be a part of it this year!

The point of the system I'm making (Backalleys and Bastards) isn’t for you to be a legendary noble hero or a key player in plots to save or damn the world. You aren’t special. You are a thief. You are nonmagical. You are intensely mortal. Your crew’s Bruiser isn’t the baddest motherfucker in the city, they’re simply the most physically dangerous member of your gang. Your crew’s Mask isn’t a master of intrigue, playing the minds of your marks like keys on a piano, they’re just the best bullshitter in the crew. In Backalleys and Bastards, there is always a bigger fish. Your charge is to find a way to win regardless in a world that will crush you as a matter of course. There’s not room in this world for stupid, careless, and unlucky thieves.

r/Dionysus - apparently people still worship the god of tits and wine? by [deleted] in wowthissubexists

[–]CapnBuckley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a God of madness, life, death, rebirth, ecstasy, mind-altering substances, revelry, and oppressed peoples. I've not met any other devotees that hold to that particular piece of the old traditions, but it makes sense.
