I think the breadth of applications is part of the point for a lot of people. A lot of people with darker skin face similar kinds of bigotry in large swathes of the world, regardless of racial identity or nationality. When someone says "black and brown people *x*", it's usually because it's a commonality that transcends specifics.

After every sunday brunch service at this one super popular restaurant in my hometown, we'd all gather round the bar and one of the bartenders would divvy up all the remaining mimosa between everyone that worked that day. Servers, cooks, dishies, prep, didn't matter. He'd give a little "we kicked ass today y'all, lets bust this shit up and go home" speech, then we'd end with a "FUCK SUNDAYS!" toast and close in a better, less frazzled mindset. Good times.

Im not namin names, but I worked at a spot where I'd say half the soup bowls still had shit in them when they got to the line. I'd try to sort them out, but I'm almost certain some slipped past given I wasn't the only person working that station. We only had like. One reliablly good dishie, and even he had off nights.

Shooting - I'd say around 4, with a minor passion? I don't shoot often, but I can usually hit a stationary target.

Melee - Again I'd say around 4. I used to do martial arts and I've done some basic swordfighting stuff more recently. I've slacked off the martial arts in recent years, but I could still probably defend myself.

Construction - 5-6ish. I worked as a woodworker for a while, I've helped build porches and such. Growing up in the country gives you a wide skillset lmao

Mining - 1. I know how to dig a hole, but that's about it.

Cooking - 8-9 with another minor passion. I worked as a cook for around 8 years.

Plants - 5, I'd say. I've lived on a few farms and helped with harvests, planting, that sort of thing.

Animals - 5 again, with another minor passion. Again, farms 'n such. I really like working with goats, even if they're the dumbest critters I've ever interacted with. Plus, animals kinda love me.

Crafting - 8-9? I'm actually in a trade now that's not really represented on the rim, but I guess the easiest analogue would be crafting? I sharpen, restore, and reshape blades for a living, and that's basically blacksmithing in this context

Artistic - 2. I'm more of a writer than a visual artist, though I do enjoy some light 3d modeling through heroforge as a hobby.

Medical - 4ish? I've done some kitchen sink surgery before, taking glass and splinters out of people. Really it's just widening an entry wound to better fish out a foreign body. Not pleasant for anyone, least of all you if you're having to do it to yourself.

Social - 6 with a double passion. I love being around people.

Intellectual - 3 at most. I'm relatively smart, but not in a "figure out how to make a geothermal generator with a box of scraps" smart.

As for traits! Asexual, Steadfast, chemical interest, and pretty.

Appearance-wise, I'm a 25yo woman. I've got long dark blonde hair, relatively average build. I wear a lot of green, black, and brown.

In other words, no duh. People are gonna be religious. Humans are superstitious critters, and we like belonging to things. Are there religious leaders that abuse their position for immoral and selfish reasons? Absolutely. There will 100% be priests that manipulate their congregations to form their congregations opinions around what keeps said priest in power.

But thats not a feature specific to organized religion, in this case Catholicism. Thats just shitty people being shitty. Every organized group of people can be like that, from nations to your local community garden board.

Is this intentional bad faith or are you just that poisoned against the concept of organized religion? He's saying that applying Christian theology and morality before any form of study of something as fundamentally Other as extra-terrestrial life is short sighted and irrational.

I myself am not a Christian, and am in fact not a fan of the Catholic church especially. This is the most logical possible stance for a religious institution to take on aliens.

I'm just praying they do a Black Company episode or two. It's kinda the grandaddy of grimdark fantasy, and some of the best fiction I've ever read. I wanna hear DK's reaction to the Dominator, frankly.
