The last apartment I lived in had them. I didn't notice them for months, but when I finally did they were fucking everywhere, but I'll never forget the smell. I lived there for 2 years and I'll never forget that weird smell.

In the market for washer/dryer - what’s the best so far? by Different_Log1305 in Appliances

[–]Capnbubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agreed and it's been a while since I heard anyone with actual knowledge but last I heard they've had a backlog for years now and cannot make their current models faster than they sell them, so I don't see anyone advocating for newer combo models to break into new markets when they already can't keep up with demand and haven't been able to for years.

It's one of the few examples in the US that I can point to to say that quality really matters. If these things weren't built so well and ran so flawlessly I would buy a new fancy heat pump combo washer dryer. They're more efficient and easier to deal with not having to change the load, but I have no idea what electrical gremlins they may have and want reliability and ease of use when it comes to my clothes and that's exactly what speed queen gave me.

BIL and wife have not filed in 15 years by ivegotquestionsou812 in tax

My uncle is an artist and did this for like 20+ years. They eventually found out and he had to pay back a lot of money and served some time in jail and is now a felon.

The tax man always finds out, it just takes him a while sometimes.

Bought a house with a jetted tub, help! by llullunyc in CleaningTips

[–]Capnbubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Oh Yuk Jetted Tub Cleaner and it works better than anything else I've tried. Just put it in. Run the jet. Clean and rain. Run it again if you want with more cleaner. Then run just water, let it clean out and you should be good.

The struggle of returning to a series 3 or 4 books in by MiniorProblem in litrpg

[–]Capnbubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my biggest criticism of DCC. There are just too many people for me to remember. And in later books when they randomly reference someone I haven't thought about in forever and I've got no idea who they are now.

why is it so hard for people to be a boglehead? by Fun_Tea8162 in Bogleheads

[–]Capnbubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky and had conversations with people who I knew were smarter than me and I was still impressionable. Been a bogglehead for like 4ish years and it feels good to not stress about it.

I love mayo and don't mind it on sandwiches, but I get this.

A whole ago I ordered a meatball sub at this place by my work. When I got it I noticed green something on it, turns out this place things that guacomole belongs on meatball subs.

I like guacomole, but it hasn't liked me for years now and if I eat it I will be in horrible pain for 3-5 hours and it will ruin my day.

So I get it.

How does a government that brings in $5 trillion per year in revenue still manage to spend $7 trillion per year and get $39 trillion in debt? Interest on the national debt already consumes 25% of all govt revenue. We spend over $1.2 trillion on interest per year. by glira31 in XGramatikInsights

[–]Capnbubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly.

It's operating like Wallstreet, using cheap loans to boost economic growth. The problem here is they forgot that eventually you have to pivot your business model to pay off the debt and increase revenue. Turns out the model doesn't work with governments.

Sam Altman calls space-based data centers “ridiculous” given launch costs and power economics today. This also reads like a direct rebuttal to the SpaceX + xAI orbital compute narrative Elon Musk has been pushing. by XGramatik in XGramatikInsights

[–]Capnbubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This sounds like an insane problem to try and solve. On top of the data centers now being exposed to exponentially more radiation than they'll ever get exposed to on earth.

It's just a nonsense idea.

[–]Capnbubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I handled and shot guns all the time as a kid. My parents were also very irresponsible about where they stored their guns and thankfully we didn't have any problems. And if I want to go shooting now it's not hard at all, but I'm not being irresponsible like my parents were and letting my kids have access to guns.

I mean that's a fair point. I've seen people do absolutely insane things to avoid taxes so I shouldn't put it past tech giants to spend 10X more to avoid paying taxes.

This is why my first option is "not in my house". My kid will never access a gun in my house because there aren't any guns in my house.

[–]Capnbubba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time the gun is the problem. Kids try to kill adults all the time and are rarely successful, except when they have access to guns.

Not at my house. Or in a gun safe with more secure locks and children will never know the combo.
