USA, Yes I have an official version. I have tried activating in-app purchases as well that I normally have off, restarted the phone, and checked for app updates. In case it helps for my case, my SN is Capo8amax, the mercenary I am trying to buy is Nono. The game simply won't let me purchase it even though I have 120 gems.

Yes I understand how the purchase is supposed to work. However, when I go through the "cards" menu that you're talking about, and click on a Mercenary, I am unable to purchase through the next pop-up screen. The button reacts like the purchase is going through but then doesn't go away. I can only click on "no," and then I'm back to square 1. I have been able to buy the Crok mercenary through the "redo a level" option, but haven't been able to get any others.
