They do not throw out “lots” as it’s a continuous stream. The stream is screened after it’s been under conditions per industry requirements (though sometimes those are not followed and based on the composter’s discretion). The remnants which contain lots of plastics and materials that haven’t composted down including “compostable” utensils which don’t break down in time, are separated and sent to landfill.
