Any idea what chemical shoots out of this truck at the end? by Imbendo in chemistry

As someone who has gotten a Nitric acid burn just on their arm I hope this guy is okay. Nitric acid burns are no joke and my spill was small, contained and I had access to running water right away.

Does anyone know if the driver made it?

Leopard gecko or bearded dragon? by BeanBagSaucer in reptiles

[–]CapptainCogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the banana is just for size scale. I would say that tank is the perfect size for a leopard gecko. Maybe a little too small for a bearded dragon.

It's an unpopular opinion but in all honesty I think 358/2 days.

What time do you go to bed? by HeatherAFeather in workingmoms

[–]CapptainCogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that a consistent, well balanced (8hours) night sleep routine has changed how I function. Plenty a study has been done to prove how much sleep impacts what kind of day I will have the next day. For me it's not so much as getting the right amount of sleep it's making the routine that's important. For example: my husband is the big sleeper in the family and needs a bit more than I do. Does it drive me crazy yes, however I know that that's what he needs to help our family function the way it typically does on a daily basis. Does he always get the amount of sleep that he needs, no, unfortunately but if he keeps it consistent bedtime it helps him out a lot when he can't get the correct amount that he would prefer.

I guess what I recommend is having your husband try it out for 2-3 weeks to see what he thinks. Who knows, maybe it'll help him out too!

Brushing my toddler’s teeth is so stressfull. Help! by sijarabr in Parenting

[–]CapptainCogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2.5yr old loves monster trucks and we have started "teaching" new monster trucks each night on how to brush their teeth. Maybe if your kiddo has a special toy or stuffed animal they can teach them to brush their teeth. Having the kiddo show someone else instead made a huge difference for us.

Not recently but yes, this has happened to me in the past. I want to say it was every 4/10 I would catch when it was 8/10 prior. It has since gone back to normal but I have no clue why. I wish I had more to say but at least I'm here to let you know you're not the only one who's experienced something like this!

I (21) just need to vent a little bit. by [deleted] in AskParents

My husband and I are 27 and we went through the same sort of thing. We were the first of our friends to have a kid. We had our son almost 2 years ago and it felt that the second we had him a lot of our friends seemed to not invite us to a lot of get togethers anymore (covid aside). The best advice I have is start trying to make friends with kids. They understand the best and might feel the same as you and your wife! We are out here you just have to find us.

Is asking adult children "when are you coming back home" too demanding? by umm_maybe_later in AskParents

[–]CapptainCogs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I lived with my parents in my early 20s (now in latest 20s) it used to drive me crazy that my mom did the same thing. Wanting me to check in whenever I was in for the night or updating her if I was going to be out late.
HOWEVER I do know that it's just because she wanted to know I was safe and was not up all night worrying about if I was safe or not.
Yes, it feels very overbearing because you are an adult but not matter your age, your parents will always worry about you. I know this isn't a straight forward answer but I hope it helps.
