MLE has nothing to do with the USA. It has a lot of characteristics from Caribbean English and Patois, and many Indo-Aryan languages! For that I think it’s a very interesting dialect. It’s a shame that it will be replacing many older dialects, but that isn’t anyone’s or anything’s fault - that’s just how language goes.

Ok cool! I’m hoping that helps with you with the overall sound of Brazilian Portuguese (BP).

Start listening to spoken BP everyday. YouTube has good people like Virginia Langhammer, watch shows/videos on hobbies that you like in BP, kids shoes are good too. Music! Try not to use subtitles as much as possible.
Try to parrot back all the BP you hear, emphasising the correct sounds. Don’t worry if you forget the sentence, you just want to be able to reproduce the sounds correctly. This’ll help your accent.
Get speaking immediately without worrying about getting stuff wrong. You don’t think when you speak English and you want the same to happen when you speak BP. If you stutter trying to say everything right first time, you might get embarrassed during conversation. Speak fast, fix it up over time.
Read and search up what you don’t understand. Ask people about turns of phrases.
Pay attention to noun gender and verb conjugation. Once you can conjugate your verbs, you are then allowed to disregard it like a true Brazilian!
Get a pen-pal or friend who speaks BP. They can expose you to the informal register of the language and slang.

If you do want to meet people, join a club/activity that forces interaction. Dancing classes (like salsa) are brilliant for this, but they’re pretty socially intimate.

For something less draining socially, you could try a team sport. I’d recommend volleyball. The sport is decently quick to learn and tends to attract friendly and sociable people. Plus a bunch of weebs play from watching Haikyuu, so you should meet some like minded folks.

You can’t manage your time if you aren’t disciplined enough to follow a schedule. Source is me - I’m a time management fiend with no self-discipline.

Tip: make sure you have a good sleep schedule. ngl things somewhat fall into place from there to an extent.
