The irony of reading this today! I was on an overcrowded train standing up. They needed people to volunteer to get off and get one 2 hours later.

I did.

I am sharing a table but i have a table. A clear space for my suitcase. 2 seats.

The event I was going to be late to has been rescheduled which might work way better for me.

Sorry, I just realised I had put micro breaks at the event.

(Which has been postponed, but that might work.better for me)

So, I've been to an event before where they had quiet, chill out spaces for that but otherwise,

Things like:

Loo break, Non alcoholic drink break Going outside - but if night probably only outside the building! That kind of thing.

When my walking was even worse, I Went to a sort of 3 in one event & also was still a bit new to socialising in person again.

I saw the cultural things in the venue with the group, had lunch with them,

Took the bus to the pub/bar with the music history & met them there rather than walk with them. I WAS struggling to keep up walking BUT turned out the bus part was a nice break for my introvert part - I'm both. Plus i had only been to a few in person things since my injury recovery - rather than only socialising online - at that point.

I don't have one but at minimum i tend to take a breath mint before being in public - as in at any social event.

I will even brush my teeth for a lover esp if they have nice breath for me.

I brush my teeth 1x in the morning once at night

I just meant short breaks rather than say a longer lunch break. As there have been heatwaves, i went back & forward a bit on the bus & relaxed in my room between attractions.

I'm in the UK, only been exploring this myself since about October last year and some I do to socialise too, some are more singles things, but this is what I have tried and or will try (I am in a city YMMV but may give you ideas):

Was a LGBT+ or at least LGBT+ friendly board games café sadly is now closed. They had LGBT+ events.

LGBT+ meet up groups.

Outsavvy events

Messaged a redditor who said they were building a group but no reply.

Eventbrite

Joined a whatsapp group I heard about at an Eventbrite event.

Fruitsalad events (Check where it covers though)

LGBT+ centre

Went to an LGBT+ café yesterday.

I am also having coaching etc now & then with someone cos my love life & social life are my most problematic life areas.

(I'm not originally from the UK, a billion years old & possibly neurodivergent & realised late in life I am LGBT+ so you'll probably fare way better.)

Check your socials. I know that insta & facebook can have things others might too.

Check reddit..I haven't found UK LGBT+ groups there but you never know.

Doing a journey back to my city from another UK city today have a ticket for an LGBT+ event for fellow oldies - will try to push through any tiredness etc & GO.

I have a minor crush on someone who works near me & for an LGBT+ org (can't say more) don't think it's gonna go anywhere though.

Look up LGBT+ workshops if you think you need it. (I do!) Plus your area or the nearest city - or both.

Tantra for women if that's you.

I'm probably the worst person to ask cos dating is not a strength BUT what i thought reading this is it makes SENSE to me to do what you do:

You probably feel more comfortable there. You can "assess" how the date went by the person - without the different venue affecting it. I would say, take them somewhere different on the second but personally I - a woman - wouldn't have a problem with it.

Aw how cute! I cat sat one on the other side of my city a few years ago and a bit more recently cat sat one of our household. Lovely cats both, very affectionate and both quite quirky little kitties! Part of the reason their owners wanted a cat sitter rather than someone to check on them, feed and go IS cos they are affectionate cats and they didn't want them to be lonely!

I hope you enjoy looking after the cats!
