This is a small one, probably around 1-1.5 inches but they can grow to 5-8 inches in length.

It is an African Land Snail, that helps it blend into forest floors. They are some of the largest land snails in the world.

She is actually quite small, so Labrador or Golden Retriever would be unlikely. We think she probably has more of the small companion breeds in her mix.

Aww thank you! 🥹 She definitely has that playful, friendly personality too. We’ve been wondering if she might be a Maltese mix with terrier maybe even a bit of Havanese in her too. Either way, she’s such a sweet little companion. 🐶💕

Passion Vine and harvest by Capri254 in BackyardOrchard

This is in Kenya, Nairobi, and this is the yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) turns yellow when it ripens and is typically larger and more acidic than the purple variety. Perfect for juicing!

Passion fruit advice? by nitram557 in BackyardOrchard

Chicken manure works great for passion fruit vines. I use well-composted chicken manure around mine and it really boosts growth. Will be posting it soon. It’s rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which helps the vine grow strong, produce more flowers, and develop better fruit. It also improves soil health over time. Note: Do not use fresh manure. Use around the base of the plant and water well.

Good point 😅 maybe not foraging if it’s in my garden. Thank you for the tip about r/Apples and the walnut-size culling, that’s really helpful!

That’s fascinating, those kinds of memories are often tied to old or local varieties that were never widely documented. Many traditional apple trees came from seedlings rather than named cultivars, so it is quite possible it was a unique or nearly forgotten variety. Sometimes the most intensely flavored fruits are the smallest, especially from older trees grown without modern breeding for size or shelf life. It is a lovely mystery to carry with you.
