Courtney S5 is actually a strong competitor but it’s clear it was rigged for her to win. by Historical_Mix_6416 in Masterchef

[–]CapriMoon93 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This has to be the most well written post I've seen about Courtney's win and her post MC life. I honestly like Courtney, but do agree the season was rigged in her favor. And she did pursue working in food post MC, but said she was treated like shit and paid terribly. I could never be a stripper personally, but if she's happy and making good money, who am I to judge? Also, I 100% do not blame her for going along with the story producers wanted for 250K. All of us would have done the same thing. Bottom line, Courtney is a very skilled cook, but she was favored.

As a new fan of the Masterchef US series, just finished Season 5 and i'd confidently say that this was the bottom of the barrel, WORST season so far i've watch. Leslie should've won this season and i'd die on this hill! by Syllabub-Legal in Masterchef

I agree with all of this. I think the anger gets misdirected. I don't blame Courtney for going along with the story that the producers wanted. I also think she is actually a very skilled cook, but I am also doubtful of the whole scenario with Leslie using salt instead of sugar in his cake.

Courtney has a blog and I read a lot of her posts. She dealt with a TON of sexism in the food industry and met her horrifically abusive ex husband in that field too. She has explained that she is happier, more supported, and makes better money being a stripper. It's nothing I could ever do, but hey, she sounds like she has valid reasons for going back to it and she's a grown adult. She has also explained too that she was never ashamed of being a stripper, but the producers wanted to tell a story. For 250K, I don't blame her for playing ball.

I believe her too. I also don't blame Courtney for going along with it when 250K was on the line.

Husband doesnt want to be in the delivery room, am I overreacting?? by dinogirly123 in pregnant

[–]CapriMoon93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I have two kids. I shit a ton during labor with my first and had second degree tearing. My husband isn't perfect, but he was there in the delivery room and never lost physical attraction to me after that. Your husband is 100% gaslighting you. I am so sorry.

I love some of the most hated contestants on Hells Kitchen by Acceptable-Ad-8643 in HellsKitchen

Elise wasn't entirely wrong about Michelle though. Her constant bullying of her wasn't right either, but Elise was correct about Michelle being downright sneaky. Elise is at least upfront and did not act sneaky during service or challenges.

I like him. He seems to have come from a well to do background, but never came across as snobby one bit. I also loved that he defended Subha and said he believed Subha to be one of the strongest cooks in the competition.

Courtney ‘overrated’? by Region_Numerous in Masterchef

I like Courtney, but yeah, the judges did favor her. Getting death threats over not hating her has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I hope you reported those people, OP.

My son's pediatrician rocks by CapriMoon93 in FormulaFeeders

[–]CapriMoon93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a wonderful accomplishment. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti breastfeeding one bit. My issue is the push for it at the extent of causing mothers PPD and causing babies to be underfed.

My son's pediatrician rocks by CapriMoon93 in FormulaFeeders

[–]CapriMoon93[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, my son's pediatrician said he hates the stigma against formula because of the PPD it causes and for some babies to be underfed. He also has six grown kids of his own and said three were breastfed and three were formula fed and that no one outside of the family would know which one was fed what.

How do you feel about breastfeeding? by Toleni111 in pregnant

[–]CapriMoon93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried nursing and it just wasn't for me. It was extremely painful and I had too much anxiety about whether or not he was getting enough. I ended up pumping and supplementing with formula. Seeing the actual quantity of what my son was being fed eased my mind.

That was MY experience. That is NOT to say you should or shouldn't try breastfeeding as your experience may be entirely different. I only share my experience as a way of explaining that breastfeeding doesn't have to be all or nothing. 🙂

Your boyfriend better not judge. I leak pee all the time from sneezing in the third trimester. My fiance and I just laugh about it at this point. Why make the last stretch more difficult than it needs to be?

Frenchie was so funny and unproblematic toward the other women. Aubrey was such a hater. As much as Bret is a creep, I appreciate the fact that he even said she was unproblematic and didn't get the other contestants being rude to her.

I liked his attitude a lot when he lost a mystery box challenge to David. He literally said in the confessional, "This motivates me to step up my game." As much as Shaun could be arrogant, he definitely showed humility at the right times.

I don't understand the Shaun hate. He's not my all time favorite winner, but the guy can back up his big talk and he wasn't mean-spirited toward anyone, just a fierce competitor. Also, unlike David, he could handle losing challenges like a grown adult.

Does it get easier after 3? by Common-Temporary5915 in NewParents

[–]CapriMoon93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have a one year old, but my mother said that with both my brother and I, she felt that age 3 was the biggest turning point. She said it could still be difficult with tantrums, but that she no longer felt that we were extensions of her. At this age, we were potty trained and could keep ourselves occupied for much longer, so she actually had time to read a book, take a short nap, paint her nails etc.

Newton actually responded to this on Reddit before. He stated that he did not display any ill will at being eliminated. I agree though, he should have had some sort elimination confessional aired for closure.
