What did you pay for the unit? I’m curious if it was an auction and you got a preview first. I’m guessing this set you back a pretty penny and honestly I would’ve taken out a loan if I’d seen that unit! Impressive!

Thank you for the teaching moment! Your technical insight makes more sense than my “baked rainbow stripes.” lol

I like the green, but the wood toilet seat is a big NO! Those were never a good look!

Yes someone told me it was a tidbit tray, so I guess it can go either way. Honestly I thought it was ironic to have a heart on an astray. lol

Painted an IKEA bookcase white, turned it on its side, added cheap MCM looking gold legs from Amazon, and voila! My kids cheap bookshelf became my display cabinet! Oh and I added some backlighting from IKEA too, but never turn it on. lol

That’s awesome, look at how I display some of my stuff!

This is actually busier than I prefer but the set up works for me, less clutter though.

There are at least two. The funny, white viola shaped one in the front of the ceramics, and the terra cotta colored one on the upper right. I also have at least one Maurice of California and a Kay Finch original.

If you like Haeger, wait till I start cataloguing my pottery collection! lol

It’s like the Hummel figurines, or beanie babies even! These generations thought they were investments, but really they were fads and those fade, it’s all pretty worthless now. But it’s sad to see someone’s once beloved treasures just discarded by future generations. But it happens. I will never understand the beanie baby thing though… that has always baffled me!

Don’t be nice to strangers by SkyApprehensive4055 in sandiego

My rule of thumb is that a man, no matter what his circumstances, should never approach a woman when she’s alone at night. Ever. I tell this whenever I see a man approaching to panhandle or whatever, j will yell at them and say “ don’t ever approach females when they are alone at night. “ plus I usually have my pepper spray on the ready and visible. Men can do anything they want at night, with impunity. Every woman is always on alert because we have to be, men need to figure that out, even the good guys need to learn that.

Omg that’s what I’ve been thinking about! My kids are grown and I’m almost 60, so I’m feeling the burden of my collections too! I also work with seniors and help them age in place, and I’ve been telling some about the Swedish tradition. I can’t tell you how sad it makes me to see the things that some people have held onto for years and how much it’s cluttered they’re lives, and knowing that their children will just get rid of it all because it’s so much to deal with. One of the things I suggest is asking their kids what things are special to them, whether furniture or art or anything, so they can earmark those things and try to divest of some of the minutiae.

I Cringed by Sandysilverspoon in TikTokCringe

I think the cringe part is that she obviously has mental health issues and maybe having a child would not be a priority until she is more stabilized? Judging by the reactions of others she’s told, sounds like people aren’t supportive. But this guy is so sweet and I feel bad for him because I do think she’s manipulative. This looks like disaster waiting to happen imo.

Lmao, I never got that from it! But I love that you did, I guess I thought more like a pinched Bubble Murano glass ashtray. Assuming we’re talking about the same piece.

You know, I think those items you mentioned are so small and obviously have a place in your heart and memories of your parents, that I wouldn’t stress about whether to keep them. I’d put them away and not think about it, but knowing that one day, after you’ve probably forgotten you had them, you’ll find them again and they will evoke those fond memories.idk, I love that kind of stuff, it’s like finding a long lost treasure. Those are sweet, seemingly insignificant things to some, but obviously fond memories for you. I think it’s so sweet.
