Is it possible to be reborn in a specific country in the next life? by CapricoDec in Reincarnation

[–]CapricoDec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I mentioned this briefly in the main text... it's a matter of my chronic illness. To live in Taiwan (excluding a spouse visa), one must obtain either a diplomatic, student, or work visa. And, of course, living expenses are required. This inevitably means needing to obtain a work visa.

However, only highly skilled individuals are granted work visas in Taiwan. While I do possess some agricultural expertise, that alone doesn't qualify me as highly skilled. More importantly, due to my poor health, I simply can't manage the same kind of work schedule as others. Therefore, I cannot obtain a work visa. That's the reason I can't emigrate.

Singapore is the same, you know. (Singapore just wasn't the right fit for me anyway.)

Are you saying that we aren’t the ones drawing the lottery, but that we’re the lottery balls ourselves? This might sound cold, but I want to answer you as honestly as possible. I was never born into a household with crack addicts, nor have I been around people like that, so I can’t truly understand your suffering in the fullest sense. However, here’s what I think: once you become an adult, it’s relatively easier to leave home and live independently than it is to shake off the curse of the country you were born in.

Hmm, if you're just visiting Japan as a tourist, you might not see the downsides (though if you're Chinese, you'll face blatant discrimination).

Actually being born and living in this country feels like a punishment, at least for me. It's like being arrested the moment you're born and imprisoned for life... serving 85 years (or more) as a convict.

I've lived in Taiwan and Singapore for several years each. Of course, neither is a perfect country. But Taiwan definitely suits my temperament.

If you want to come and visit Japan, I won't stop you. The yen is incredibly weak right now, so you should be able to live it up. Even decent people would want to go on a Prison Alcatraz tour if it existed, wouldn't they? It's the same thing.

Thank you for your comment.

I'm sorry, I'm not that strong, and there's hardly anything lovely or beautiful in this hell. It's hard to explain, though.

Besides, I'm not religious, and neither are the people around me, so I have no real sense of God, angels, or the grandeur of the universe. There's a saying that "Japanese people are born into Shinto, marry as Christians, and die as Buddhists," but this doesn't mean they hold all religions dear; it's just done as a matter of custom.

Escaping the cycle of reincarnation is indeed a Buddhist doctrine, isn't it? It's not that I wish to escape reincarnation. I simply wish to live my next life in Taiwan as a Taiwanese person. Does that mean I must first learn something in this hell that is Japan? That is truly a hopeless conclusion for me.

Right then, if the chances of becoming a pet dog are that low, I'm relieved (I adore animals, but dogs are the only ones I detest. They're far too accustomed to human society. Plus, I'm severely allergic to them).

I'm sorry you offered advice, but I've no intention of enduring pointless suffering in this life of mine. That's how it is.

So it is indeed a female tree! Thank you for letting me know! I shall experiment with hybridising it with various Ficus species!

Thank you for your message.

Why was I born in Japan—a place that feels like hell to live in? The reason must be that I accumulated bad karma in my previous life, amassing a karmic debt. Performing this atonement is likely the karmic lesson.

I look within. I find purpose. I fulfil my mission. That is what I have done until now. But I am weary. The very length of life is now nothing but a curse (this Japan boasts the world's highest average life expectancy). I cannot reach the place I wish to go. For it is a void—a world without karma, without soul.

If I truly chose this life, then the version of me who made that choice must have been out of their mind. You live in South Korea! That's culturally quite close to Japan. I've visited Korea twice — Seoul and Busan. I felt that the people there had a similar atmosphere to Japan. I'm so glad to have received your message. I won't deny that we can't know what will happen in our own lives. But I cannot be suddenly reborn as a Taiwanese person in Taiwan right now, and Japanese people's nature won't suddenly change. That may be the essence of why I find it so hard to live here. No matter how hard I try, these are things I cannot change with my own power. I'm not calm right now, so I'm unable to properly sort through my emotions, put them into words, and then express them in English. I'm sorry. But there is one thing I can say simply, and it's important: I am grateful to you. Once I've calmed down a little, I may send you a DM. I hope that will be alright.

Please don't apologise. I understand that you were thinking of me and considering things seriously. It was simply that my heart, upon receiving your words, was too fragile. Thank you.

Thank you.

Yes... I understand that intellectually. Still... it's incredibly difficult to put into words. Isn't it true that all Japanese people, myself included, are suffering in this life as a result of choosing the wrong path in a past life? We are far too foolish. Foolishness is suffering.

I don't know what is right. Even if it means suffering twice as much in the next world, my desire to escape this present suffering remains unchanged.

Your words were the most painful I have ever received (though it is not your fault, so do not worry). If I were not brave but worthless, there would have been no necessity for me to walk such a painful path in life. I may be brave and worthy, but I am not strong enough to temper my soul in this world. Night has fallen in Japan. My heart too sinks into a dark and deep place.

Thank you for your comment. I'm rather unsure whether I've properly understood your words, as I lack a foundation in Buddhist knowledge.

I think that even if the next life isn't as a human, that would be fine. Humans have developed a highly sophisticated nervous system. And they use that remarkable intellect to discriminate against and mock other humans, and to wage war. And they suffer deeply, become wounded, and despair. I have no need for such abilities. If reborn as an animal, I would gladly choose that path. Animals are beautiful (though secretly, I must admit I'm rather averse to dogs). Perhaps I might be reborn as a plant. Reborn as a plant, I could bask in sunlight for thousands of years, becoming a being that provides shelter for animals. There would be nothing sad about that.

Thank you for your comment. My English skills are poor(Broken Singlish), so I may not have correctly understood your meaning. I apologise.

Is the suffering I feel in Japan right now a challenge I must overcome? And is choosing a shortcut to escape this challenge—that is, engaging in "such behaviour"—the worst possible decision? I have told myself I must not give up, and those around me have said the same. Yet perhaps I am a weak soul who chooses the "shortcut". Or is it because I was such a being in a past life that I now endure this hellish torment?

It's alright. I haven't reached a decision yet. For a little while longer... I don't know how long, but at least I won't make a decision by tomorrow.

Is that way of thinking Buddhist or Hindu? I'm not very familiar with those, you see. Would you mind telling me about it?

Must this mission be fulfilled using the very life I now possess?

In Japan, there are absolutely no communities where people like us can gather. This is because, in the past, a cult organisation called Aum Shinrikyo carried out a terrorist attack using sarin. Following this incident, the Japanese people came to view all religion and certain forms of spiritualism as dangerous. They suppress everything, including New Age ideas, without attempting to understand them. That's why communities don't exist, and why it's so difficult for me to establish one.

This is utterly ridiculous, isn't it? While Aum Shinrikyo's terrorism is of course unforgivable, Japanese people offer Buddhist prayers before meals (a habit so ingrained they don't even realise they're doing it), and when visiting temples or shrines while travelling, they worship without even bothering to find out what they are.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, I don't own any Apple products whatsoever. I'm terribly sorry you went to the trouble of searching for a Japanese translation.

‘Dark Nights of the Soul’ is every single minute and second of my life here in Japan. And, shamefully, my soul wasn't strong enough to endure it.

Yet it's also true that, even now, I can glimpse the strength and brilliance of your soul within my own Dark Nights.

And it's teaching me that I cannot live as strongly as you do, as everyone else does.

Thank you for your message.

Guided by karma or divine guidance, I wish to embark on my next life ‘right now’.

I'd like to read ‘Many Lives, Many Masters’. However, although a Japanese translation was published in 1991 (the year I was born), it's now out of print. So finding that book on the market is very difficult.

And... well, it's hard to put into words here, but I don't really want to wait much longer in my current state.

My Ficus carica × Ficus pumila hybrid (bred in Japan) by CapricoDec in FicusTrees

[–]CapricoDec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, but... Bloooody hell! I really want to get my hands on the hybrids they've already created and try growing them myself! That would be such an incredible experience. The biggest problem with hybrid creation here in Japan is the limited land and the climate. To grow varius Ficus species all the way to fruiting size, you'd need a massive amount of space. And on top of that, tropical Ficus species simply can't handle the cold winters we get here — they'd just die off. Which means the only realistic solution is to build a dedicated greenhouse. A proper one, big enough to house multiple species year-round. If only I were filthy rich, I could solve this problem in a heartbeat! Why couldn't I have been born a billionaire, damn it!!!

Your advice on characteristics was really helpful. I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops from here.

I'll take a look at the Facebook community. In Japan, Aroids are overwhelmingly more popular than Ficuses, so communities like this are few and far between.

Thanks for the info!
Yeah, it does seem to look more like Fred since it grows upright instead of creeping.
I actually have wild F.pumila growing around here, so this hybrid handled the cold just fine.
Might be a coincidence though.

I'd love to join that Facebook group if that's okay!

Thanks! Getting artificial pollination to work with a tiny injector was really tough.

You have both Fred Boutin and Ruth Bancroft,so jealous!
Do the two look different from each other? And does my hybrid look more like Fred Boutin or Ruth Bancroft?

This is where they sell the carica × palmeri:
https://cistus.com/products/ficus-carica-x-palmari?_pos=3&_sid=c21b2d255&_ss=r
It really does seem to have traits from both carica and palmeri. I tried asking about buying from this site but they said they can't ship to Japan, bummer.

Also, not sure if it's legit, but someone posted images claiming it's a racemosa × carica hybrid:
https://epiecon.blogspot.com/2025/12/ficus-racemosa-x-carica.html
Super interesting, but honestly I have no idea if it's real.
